Enjoy 'Ambling Alp' below. Odd Blood will see daylight in early February. MP3: Yeasayer - 2080
My favourite track of the last month gets an epic video treatment. It's Mad Max meets Lords of the Ring s meets Dune meets The Abyss meets the recent requirement for naked people in music videos. The director is Radical Friend. MP3: Yeasayer - Ambling Alp Buy the single package from amblingalp.com . Follow the band on Twitter . Related Posts New Yeasayer - Ambling Alp [...]
Yeasayer's new video (Not Safe for Viewing at Work) The first single off of Yeasayer 's upcoming album Odd Blood now has a video. "Ambling Amp," one of ten tracks to appear on the follow-up to All Hour Cymbals has already gotten many spins from me since they offered the single free ( here ). The video, a visually stunning compliment to the otherworldly tune, joins Sigur Ros and Flaming Lips as yet another weird video featuring running nudes. Odd Blood drops February 9 [...]

What's with all the NSFW videos of naked people running around in fields and forests hitting the web these days? Has this replaced hand-drawn animation as the new cool indie video fad? All that's not to undervalue Yeasayer 's new video (up at their website ), which sees a few very naked people interacting with a 360° panoramic camera and then running into the desert to chill with some silverish spacey looking thing. Check it out... Here's Yeasayer's latest single, "Ambling Alp" » [MP3] Yeasayer [...]

I caught Yeasayer at the Rock The Garden Festival in Minneapolis this summer. It wasn't the best venue to enjoy their self-described blend of "Middle Eastern-psych-pop-snap-gospel" , but they certainly impressed. You can add Yeasayer to the list of bands that are mixing worldly rhythms with indie-rock hooks (see Vampire Weekend ) and are being met with waves of hype. I first ran across the Brooklyn quartet on one of the La [...]

Yeasayer are back with the first taste from their new album, Odd Blood. This new track is definitely more pop-fused than previous material. Their debut was an amazing collection of completely experimentally driven pop-folk tracks and you can see how complex the tracks are in their YouTube videos. I personally love them but I can see how some people wouldn't get them. If you're not so keen on their debut, I think this new track is sure to ruffle your feathers. Ambling Alp is a free download and it's got us ready for the [...]

While searching for a clip of Weezer's stop by Letterman last night, I came across a vid of their first ever stop by Dave's place. They played " Say It Ain't So " and I sighed. Whatever you think of the band all these years later, this much is undeniable: they are still making music. And doing television appearances. Last night they did If You're Wondering If I Want You To (I Want You To) ," a (the?) strong point on Raditude , and tonight they're back at the Ed Sullivan Theatre for another serving. It's a strong [...]

RODRIGO Y GABRIELA We started off Day 3 with Rodrigo y Gabriela - the Mexican flamenco-inspired guitar duo - whose famous cover of Metallica make Apocalyptica look like pussies. It was nice to see this group on the huge What Stage where the camera could pick up the nuances Rodrigo y Gabriela's guitar playing, which is virtuosic to say the least. The constant surpise at Bonnaroo was groups doing more with less. And this duo is the poster child for such excellent musicanship. Even at [...]

In a year dominated by releases of heavyweights Animal Collective and Grizzly Bear, the London duo of James Ford and James Shaw are aiming to dethrone the likes of said bands and steal the show with their new album Temporary Pleasure . Simian Mobile Disco 's debut album Attack Sustain Decay Release in 2007 was a bit lost amongst the shuffle thanks to electro monsters Justice, but anybody who took the time to listen to it found a gem of an album. The album combined deep deep bass lines with some Simian -like [...]

We previously mentioned how dope 4AD's Dark Was The Night compilation for Red Hot was and it still continues to receive entirely too much play by me on a regular basis. Now they're starting to release videos to go along with the tracks on the album. Yeasayer 's "Tightrope" was a strong track on the comp and they have put out a video for with them performing it live and giving you a little insight behind the song. Enjoy! mp3: Yeasayer - Tightrope

Enjoy 'Tight Rope' (the band's contribution to Dark Was The Night) below. MP3: Yeasayer - 2080

First off, I should acknowledge that sharing this song kind of makes me an asshole. "Tightrope" was recently released as a special track for the charity compilation Dark Was The Night , which aims to raise money for AIDS awareness. I listened to it for the first time today and it's very, very good, and I highly suggest killing two birds with one stone and purchasing a fantastic double album/donating to charity. I know it's recession times and all (oh do I ever know), but at least it's a doubly-justifiable purchase, no? That said [...]
"Tightrope" is probably my favorite song on the "Dark Was The Night" compilation, and here Yeasayer dives into a *very* slowed down folksified version of the song that really takes it in a totally different direction. Very cool. Note: Tickets for the Dark Was The Night show at Radio City in NYC are on sale today.
Enough interesting stuff came up this week on video that it merits a post. Check it out (bandwidth warning!). Nine Inch Nails with Dillinger Escape Plan - "Wish" Dark Was the Night featuring the National , Yeasayer , Dirty Projectors In the Studio with Dan Deacon Arbouretum - "Down by [...]

"Natasha Khan of Bat For Lashes ain't scared. I love the harpsichord and the sexual ghost voices and bowed saws. This song seems to come from the world of grimm's fairytales, and I feel like a wolf." - Thom Yorke (Radiohead) Brighton, England's Bat For Lashes is set to release her highly-anticipated sophomore album, 'Two Suns' on April 6th, 2009.
