Barsuk Records is excited to debut Yellow Ostrich 's video for "Ghost", the title track from the band's recent 6-song release. The clip, directed by the band and Frank Larson, premiered via Stereogum, who described it as "focus[ing] tight on bandleader Alex Schaaf, alternating between the singer delivering his lament in present-day and fuzzy old VHS footage capturing happier bygone times." The image on the cover of Ghost is an original painting by New York-based artist Graham Parks. Parks painted this image on a canvas comprised of 100 blank record sleeves, which [...]
Yellow Ostrich just debuted a new video for their soulful track "Ghost." In it, Alex watches some VHS footage of someone he lost long ago and gets very reflective. I know it's a music video, but about a minute in I really felt like I was intruding on someone's private moment - now that's a [...]
Alex Schaff and the guys from Yellow Ostrich are back at it again with a video for "Ghost" that tugs at the heartstrings. Director Frank Larson's adds a gorgeous visual dimension to the track. The piece evokes an extreme sense of loneliness, beginning wi th Schaff sitting alone staring out a window. But what makes it so hauntingly beautiful is how his memories are projected via 8mm home video across the dark house where he resides. Slowly, the video becomes an array of these hazy clips, ending as it begins. It's not going to brighten your day, but it's well worth a watch. [...]

'The Shakedown' is Yellow Ostrich's second video from their sophomore release Strange Land. The video offers up a super cool neon, glow in the dark performance, so go ahead and turn off the lights and turn up the volume.
Remember those crazy parties you used to have in your basement with, like, 20 friends? You'd break open a pack of glow sticks and dance around underneath a black light to awesome music? No? Guess that's just me. Kidding aside, Yellow Ostrich go day-glo in the subtlest of ways in their new video for Strange [...]
In what seems to be an apparent nod to A Tribe Called Quest 's artwork for their seminal second album "Low End Theory" , Yellow Ostrich have painted themselves and their instruments in glow in the dark paint. Then they've been dancing around in a dark room, or sitting still and playing their instruments, or staring at the camera. Connect With Yellow Ostrich - Facebook | Twitter | Last.fm
Here's another great video from Yellow Ostrich's new album Strange Land. "The Shakedown" gets the vid treatment with a glow-in-the-dark video that's a little creepy but a lot of fun.
The new video for Yellow Ostrich 's song "The Shakedown," from their sophomore LP Strange Land , premiered yesterday on NYLON , and it sees the band going low budget. With no budget and minimal gear, we explored the beauty of darkness. The white light represents the past, and the black light represents the future. Should I stay or should I go?" Watch it above.
