B-Sides in the Bins #53 – Rubber Soul Restoration

B-Sides in the Bins #53 – Rubber Soul Restoration Over Christmas I took on a project- the restoration of a Mono Beatles Rubber Soul . A couple of years ago, my sister-in-law Sarah gave me a stack of LP's that she picked up at a thrift store in the Twin Cities. The stack was a colorful collection of 602s, 702s and 802s pop, tropicalia, hair metal and Phil Collins. I pulled out the records that I thought I'd want to keep and got ready to carry the lot of discards to Half-Price Books. Thankfully, I looked closer at the Firefall sleeve in [...]

The Field/The Juan Maclean @ Double Door

The Field/The Juan Maclean @ Double Door I had the good fortune of a friend checking out The Juan Maclean and The Field play at the Double Door a few days ago. A bit of luck definitely played a part in me catching this show, as I had no idea either band was in town until the night before the show, when a friend asked me to check out the show with them. Given my previously mentioned appreciation of The Juan Maclean, I was already excited for the show…then I found out the day of the show that The [...]

The Field - Yesterday And Today (Kompakt, 2009)

The Field - Yesterday And Today (Kompakt, 2009) The Field - The More That I Do The headaches are coming back with a vengeance, with an especially wicked one today, so I'll keep this short. And light. Nothing too headache aggravating, hence The Field's Yesterday & Today . I wasn't all that into From Here We Go Sublime . I mean, I liked it and all, but it wasn't something I listened to a whole lot. Not the case with Yesterday And [...]

Giudizio complessivo : "From Here We Go Sublime" era una botta assurda, una novità che spiazzava e ammaliava contemporaneamente.

The Field: ascolta "The More That I Do"

From here we go....sublime again?

From here we go....sublime again? Swedish uber-aesthete The Field is returning to the dance fray in a few weeks with his second full length album, Yesterday and Today. Lead single 'The More that I Do' is knocking around right now. I've had a few listens and am including it below so you can too. Dude looks like he could do with a Lemsip or something. MP3: The Field- The more that I Do So what's it like? Well, errr, more of the same really. The utterly distinctive sonic template [...]

The Field - "The More That I Do"

The Field - "The More That I Do" New Field track! From the upcoming Yesterday & Today , due out May 19 here in Ah-mer-eek-ah. This sounds way more dancefloor ready than most of From Here We Go Sublime ...maybe it's that the samples are a bit longer. [via RCRD LBL ]

MP3: The Field - The More That I Do

MP3: The Field - The More That I Do One of the few minimal electronic albums that has caught my ear over the last few years was The Field's debut, From Here We Go Sublime . It was one of those great records that was pretty universal as to where you played it. It worked in traffic, at parties, pretty much all of the above. The weird thing about it though it was that the Field, aka Sweden's Axel Willner, didn't do much touring or promo for the album. I didn't even know what the guy looked like until he performed at Pitchfork last year. [...]

The Field - The More That I Do - mp3

The Field - The More That I Do - mp3 [MP3] The Field: The More That I Do We've been waiting a bit now for an mp3 premiere from the new Field record Yesterday and Today , and today Pitchfork debuted "The More That I Do." The track is an undulating mash of vocal samples, electronic beats and repeated rhythms; yet, as always, there is a tinge of melancholy underneath that makes it truly individual and great. Yesterday and Today comes out May 19 via Anti and Kompakt. Can't [...]

New Album From The Field!!!

New Album From The Field!!! Gahh!! Great news from Kompakt . The Field , one of my favorite albums and live performers from 2007, will be releasing an follow up album for me to fawn over on the 25th of May. Entitled Yesterday & Today , the drummer from Battles will be one of the albums "surprises" and we should all expect "a much more organic affair." I think that means guitars?? This year is finally looking up...now excuse me while I go make room at the top of my "Best of 2009" list.
