We like a little bit of the North East of England here at the Ruck. 'Young Lovers' from The Castells , is bursting with energy, screaming with recklessness and complete with the usual distinctive crazed guitar riffs & unique vocals from that lead singer, Sam, who I once likened to a Northern version of Peter Doherty (minus the drama). The boys bring it when they hit the London scene, complete with decent threads (minus the Newcastle United top) and as always, you should keep a smooth eye on the lads. 'Young Lovers' is [...]

If the excellent jagged "Young Lovers", the latest single from Durham UK band The Castells, is any indication - we will be hearing a lot more from them in the very near future. Somebody get Zane Lowe this track! The Castells ( Facebook ) ( Twitter ) Rating 8.0
Check out "She Said" from Run Young Lovers , an indie pop five piece who vibe like Two Door Cinema Club - which is a very, very good thing, if you ask us. The five lads from Crawley, West Sussex go full out with fantastic instrumentation, clever lyrics, and killer harmonies, and they hit the pavement as hard as they rock, knocking on doors and giving away tracks for free. All this talent and hard work is going to take them places, you mark our words. Run Young Lovers - She Said [...]

Maximum Balloon - Groove Me (2010) Maximum Balloon - Young Love (2010) Thx to Erwan Perron

Just because summer is officially over, we need not turn our backs on fun and the sunshine. I don't know about you, but my favorite way to mourn summer passing has always been to grab a bottle of booze, play obscenely loud music, and dance the fall doldrums away. Doesn't matter if it's Heavy Bass, Electro House or B-more Club—give me anything of quality that's high energy and dancey, and I will loose my mind in an attempt to hold onto the warmth! Here are a few tracks to get you back in the summer mood compliments of [...]
Let me preface this playlist with this: I didn't start my iPod until I was a little over 2 miles into my first half marathon this past weekend. So, if you put the entire thing together on your own, my time will seem a lot better than it actually was. Regardless, this is just how [...]
Music video for "Rotten Fruit" by Young Loves from the band's 2010 release, "Wake Up Teenage."
Young Loves - Rotten Fruit Beauty of a video.

Photo Courtesy These musicians who I quote unquote here, happen to be inspired by Aztec Camera, have adopted for a more pop approach to their new album. Mystery Jets keep joyous harmonies and absolute fun in their music that this band remains a special place in my heart. Young Lov e featured folkster Laura Marling and though it may not be as well lauded Young Folks, it really gave some tough competition! Check out the video below, too. Have a happy Sunday everyone! It's a disgusting rainy Monday in St. Louis, but I'm in a good mood for two reasons: (1) I'm done with school for the rest of my life, assuming I didn't fail any of my finals and (2) there were enough vitamins in my mailbox that even Dr. Kevorkian would feel uncomfortable prescribing them all. Time to O.D. Vitamin #1: This first one is a dope little ditty from AudioDax, an electro-hop duo still recording out of their college dorm room. They sent me an e-mail asking if we would be nice enough to [...]

Remember Fraggle Rock? I do. I remember watching it all the time as a kid. Sometimes I miss the days of no worries. I think that would be crazy.I think we a FPK need to make some puppets.Anyways enough of my random talk. Here is what you want.Enjoy...... 20. Florence + the Machince - You've got the love Normally I'd embargo covers from entering such lists on principle but this is such a break from the original that it deserves a mention. The xx remix of the Florence's cover (still following?) adds their unique duets to the mix which undoubtedly improves it even further but I felt Florence needed a mention here. 19. The Young Lovers - Love you madly [download BN] [download MF] Joshua Harvey, better known to us as Hervé, took a [...]
Sometimes I forget that Hervé drops huge, electro-bass bombs. I forget, then I remember and I'm pissed at myself for forgetting in the first place. I guess he got luck when they were handing out cool names, because he also performs/records as The Count, The Young Lovers, Action Man and The Dead Soul Brothers. Oh, right: He's also part of the Machines Don't Care collaboration album with some other UK heavies. Listen to him bring it: Kidda - Under The Sun (Herve Remix) [...]
