
I've been watching London-based shoegaze indie-rockers Yuck for a while now. They have been releasing random singles and videos for the past year; all with bizarre cover art. Finally the day has come and they have released their debut full length self-titled album, complete with more strange art. http://oupamusic.com/ Oupa is the new name of Yuck frontman Daniel Blumberg's solo venture previously entitled Yu(c)k, I'm guessing the name change is to formally separate the confusion from the grungey BBC Sound of 2011 listed (if not quite to my taste) Yuck who have been getting universal praise for their debut album . Now as a previous Cajun Dance Party fan, the more austere by design and serenely beautiful Oupa tracks fit far more into my palette. Some of you may remember Yu(c)k, the piano-led solo-project of Yuck ’s Daniel Bloomberg. He changed his moniker to Oupa (too many people confused Yu(c)k with the actual Yuck), but the sound hasn’t lost any of its beauty. Here’s the title track of his forthcoming debut Forget , out in June.
