This week offered up a bunch of satisfying singles, so it was a little more challenging than usual to sift through it all and come up with just 10 favorites. However, we think we done good with the following selections, what with it featuring everyone from Aesop Rock to Yuck to Frank Ocean. Until next time, enjoy. A Place to Bury Strangers - "Burning Plastic" When tragic things happen, society takes to art. Brooklyn-based label Famous Class is doing just that with their new 73 series, honoring their recently passed [...]

More of a track goldmine than just a single MP3. Spin media has generously given away this 17 track pack to compliment their upcoming Coachella favorites. This features some of the top producers that will be out in the sand the next two weekends. Event though some of these tracks are recently released or not at all, apparently they got the go ahead. Make sure to grab the DL and plug in your Ipod while sulking that your at work and not a the rave. Grab the Download Here

Wild Cloud Nothings Editition This week's Hump Day Power Play started around two songs: Cloud Nothings' "No Future/No Past" and Wild Nothing's "Chinatown". From there, it only made sense to through in the likes of Yuck, Black Lips, and Beach Fossils. The result was a smooth mix of shoegaze and noise pop/garage, which is quite good, in my opinion... but you don't have to take my word for it ! Hear it by simply clicking here . Playlist is below. :: Hump Day Power [...]

Zola Jesus Editor's Note: I don't do "Best of" or "Top" lists, but I do like things ... as hard as it might seem to believe. I'm going to post a few editorials between now and the end of the year about the various things I've liked about 2011. It seems that every year I have less time to listen to music than the year before. This year proved to be no different. With that said, I did find time during the last 11.5 months to listen to some wonderful [...]

Fuochino. Sono i miei dischi dell'anno. Ah [...]

So these are not really in any order, in fact you could say they were "OUT OF ORDER!" I found myself listening to an album a lot, then not really listening to it again until I DID listen to it again. Here are the ones I listened to the most, and therefore I guess they are the best of the year, I guess. And again, let me stress that in true non committal Electric Mustache fashion, these are presented not in any specific order, and also with videos instead of album art/mp3s, because video are way way easier. [...]
Filed under: The Hit List From a 62-year-old soul man's debut and an indie auteur's sci-fi epic to a daring punk concept records and a heartfelt chart-topping smash, 2011 has already given us a wide range of [...]

This week in Austin at SXSW, there are a ridiculous amount of daily music options to choose from. It's overwhelming even for some SXSW veterans, but is especially so for 1st time visitors. We tried to simplify for you the process of choosing from thousands of shows by selecting 40 shows that we feel will be special performances. We highly recommend catching every Charles Bradly & Menahan Street Band , White Denim, Middle Brother, J. Roddy Walston and The Business, King Tuff, JEFF The Brotherhood, and Black Joe Lewis shows. The breakout artist of the festival is [...]

It would be easy to construct a case for Liverpool having gone through a musical revolution in the past few years, sort of like the Egyptian revolution, just with fewer camel charges and more burnt down venues. (In fact, so easy would it be to make a case that that’s exactly what Getintothis did, and very, very well, too) Mere years ago young & old people from the city gifted with discerning music taste floated the city hoping for the announcement of gigs from the bands of the day who’s tours seemed to travel the entire country, whilst [...]
