Sunday Slaylist: Hevy Festival 2011 first announcement

In case we haven't made it obvious by now, we hate writing about festival line-up announcements. Every couple of weeks or so we have to knock out a news piece at whatever godforsaken hour the festival in question has deemed is the acceptable time for news of the latest bookings to be released, feigning interest [...]

Covers: Amy Winehouse - Rehab

ZEBRAHEAD - " Mental Health " Many bands make an entrance into a particular scene, make a statement, and are suddenly yesterday's has-beens after an album or two. But after a dozen years, half a dozen albums, scores of countries, countless miles, a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance for their blistering cover of Metallica's "Enter Sandman and immeasurable faces rocked, it's not entirely surprising that Orange County-based rock act Zebrahead have been able to not only maintain a distinct relevancy to the core fan base that grew up with the act, it's also been able to consistently [...]

These New Acts Are Big On MySpace, Big In Japan, And Even Bigger In The Monastery [Next Little Things]

These New Acts Are Big On MySpace, Big In Japan, And Even Bigger In The Monastery [Next Little Things] Each week, dozens of songs and albums from up-and-coming (or just plain unknown) bands debut on the world's music charts. Some of these bands will never be heard from again; some may become the next little thing. That's why every two weeks Chuck Eddy will be exploring the world beyond the Billboard 200, where he'll look for diamonds in the MySpace rough. This week, his roster of up-and-comers includes ska-core that's big in Japan, a Christian act who's looking to Marilyn Manson for inspiration, some monks, someone who calls himself Mr. Halle Berry, Canadian road warriors, blue-collar bluesmen, [...]
