Not only did I invent sliced [banana] bread, I am now bringing you an introduction to Josef, a producer hailing from my own quaint home town located deep in the Leicestershire jungle. A purveyor of understated beats, his tunes exude a laid-back optimism that draws me away from my constant obsession with moody landscape and makes my stony mouth curl up into a twisted smile (imagine the Joker, but drunk). 'Lift', the tune I've attached below, is his most recent upload and its buoyant quality conjures images of soft-focus sunny days, the ones I used to enjoy before I realised [...]

Sophie Barker , the voice behind Zero 7, follows up her solo album Seagull released earlier this year with new double AA side single 'A Forest' (a rework of the classic original by The Cure) and 'Say Goodbye'. And you can exclusively listen to them both below. Sophie says herself: 'I felt that the two songs revealed perspective of love from two ends of the spectrum. The sweet, sad but light 'Say Goodbye' voice to the deeper more edgy sharp sound of the voice in 'A Forest' expressing two very parts of the same woman of [...]
Matt Stevens' instrumental arsenal does not compare to a full-blown orchestra, which for can be a challenging task for one without vocal accompaniment. Percussion, bass, and guitars are all he needs, with glockenspiel and strings entering the fray occasionally. His two past full-lengths have resulted in a significant online following, who are bound to swoon [...]

P. The Man take the jammy Junip single for a journey traversing mountain high and valley wide. The theme is here is motion, movement, mechanical momentum. This remix is the perfect late night sort of driving track. There's just enough atmosphere and eeriness in it to set that mood. The mix also sort of reminds of Zero 7 or even P. The Man at their more mellow moments. Give it a spin. Junip - Without You (Portugal. The Man Remix) Junip [...]

>> We find it hard to believe we haven't written about Brooklyn-based electropop duo Cookies for almost a year , especially because of its wonderful second single which was released late this past spring, but there you go. The duo of former Mobius Band guitarist Ben Sterling and singer Melissa Metrick has just dropped its genius third single, the apparently digital-only pairing of "Wilderness Tips" b/w "The Dream." The thumping A-side is deftly composed, an arresting mid-tempo hand-clapper that croons and thumps. The flip, "The Dream," is perhaps even more remarkable, as spare and soulful [...]
This has been such a fun project so far and the submissions on our Facebook page have been great. In case you missed it, this mini-series puts Mahogany followers in the driving seat and all submissions we got are to be included here across 3 posts. Without further ado, here is Part duex! --------------------------- Dennis // Fenech-Soler - Stop and Stare We're massive fans of Fenech-Soler and grew even fonder of the boys after their stripped back Mahogany session. Stop [...]
The Irrepressibles have been heralded as one of Britain's best-kept secrets, compared to the likes of early Bowie, Kate Bush and Anthony & The Johnsons - their unique blend of theatrical pop and lo-fi is winning the fans all over the place. And they are certain to get more fans as their latest single is accompanied by a delectable selection of remixes from Hercules & Love Affair, Royksoop and Zero 7. Fusing European orchestration with pop melodies and soaring cathartic vocals, the intensely intimate 'In Your Shirt' is a beautifully constructed sonic exploration through The Irrepressibles' [...]
José González took the road less travelled. The Argentinian Swede creates some of the most beautiful, silvery music around. It's hard to believe he began his musical career as a bassist in a hardcore punk band out of Gothenburg, Sweden. There is something to be said for all musical genres but Punk does not rely on its aesthetic but rather on raw emotion. I was first introduced to José González when he collaborated with Zero 7 on their album The Garden . José González's ethereal vocals on Futures was my first exposure to his music and it paved [...]

It has been a long time coming, I can tell you that much. When I first started Potholes, some three years ago, Co$$ was one of the first artists I linked up with. While he dropped some free material here and there, it has been the solo debut that we have all been waiting for. Just last month that dream finally materialized in the form of Before I Awoke , a fantastic album showcasing all of this MC's hard work. To get to know a little bit more about Co$$, we had him throw together [...]

AIVA, an artist out of D.C., delivers to you this striking cover of Nick Drake's classic tune "Pink Moon". Her take shifts the pensive acoustive shuffle of the original to a spacier, more expansive place. (think Moon Safari or Simple Things ). Try out the track below and let us know what you think. AIVA - Pink Moon (Nick Drake) AIVA ( Myspace ) Rating 8.3

Well, it's pretty difficult to encapsulate the feeling of getting high into just five tracks, because there are so many variables to the experience. I decided to steer clear of tracks which were purely about getting high, and instead went for songs that I think sound better after a lung full of smoke. I hope I've managed to cover some of the experience - the carelessness, the mellowness, the trippy-ness - even if I left out the munchies from this list. I hope you enjoy getting high to the five tracks below - they are some of the best, [...]

Today marks the beginning of our new playlist series, Friday Five. Each week we'll be bringing you a new themed playlist to get you through those last few hours before the weekend starts and the fun begins. This week we've got some lesser known remixes of songs you wouldn't normally expect to hear at a robot dance party. I was actually thinking of doing another theme for the week but as I started to search for songs, this idea just magically introduced itself and I had to follow through so I hope you enjoy. Throw them on [...]
![Summertime Mp3s [Mixtape]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3365526_lg.jpg)
So as spring turns to summer, we change our dress, we spend more time outside and we take like a little bit slower (hopefully). Summertime music is very different than other seasons. With the change in our regular activities focused on spending time outside, the music we listen might be more chilled, ambient, less intrusive, fun and bright. Our friends at See The Leaves SF , who kindly made a summertime mixtape for us (see below), described summertime music as anything 90s hip hop. While we agree, we'd like to suggest a few other tracks, while also including some [...]

All I can say is yum. This taster for Sophie Barker's new album, due out in May, occupies the same sort of ground as her previous collaborators Zero 7. It has a similar sweet, slightly lounge-y vibe, sitting comfortably in the atmospheric, j... Read more..

Anyway, that song is sampled in this track with HiCLAS! rappin' some meaningful lyrics over it. Enjoy thoroughly. Robotaki is a 19 year old producer from Montreal, Canada will amazing talent! From the bio on his soundcloud , it seems like he creates his songs with very minimal equipment. Props to him for making good use of his resources! This "Mill Theme" remix is a wonderfully melodic chill-out track, with a little glitch thrown in for flavor. The instruments and vocal hook seem to float around each other in a way pleasantly reminiscent of Zero 7. See you yourself. Ryuichi Sakamoto- Mill Theme (Robotaki Remix) [...]
![Remix Roundup Vol. 36 – 1.14.2011 [STAR SLINGER, ALI LOVE, GRUM, ARCADE FIRE, and more... ]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3116985_lg.jpg)
Welcome back to TBE our fellow Nurds'. Its been two weeks, but like always, Joel & Scott are back to present Remix Roundup Vol. 36. Listen party peeps, in 10 we were supposedly " ready for a good night ", but let us tell you something little bit different for 11. In 11, we are going to create that good night. Why? Cuz this one goes to 11 and its time for some funky, dazzling, crunk, promiscuous, weird shite to go down. And, if that aint enough to motivate you. The apocalypse is approaching scary [...]
