BOOKA SHADE JUST ADDED!!

Fresh from last week’s latest line-up announcement featuring the 2nd wave of artists set to play at this summer’s Get Loaded in the Park festival... we can reveal that German electronic duo BOOKA SHADE have just been added to the bill.

Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier aka Booka Shade are at the very fore front of contemporary dance music and together with M.A.N.D.Y and DJ T set up the pioneering Get Physical Records label in 2002. As Booka Shade they’ve released three hugely influential albums in the shape of ‘Memento’, ‘Movement’ and ‘The Sun & the Neon Light’ and their 2005 singles ‘Mandarine Girl’ and ‘Body Language’ (with M.A.N.D.Y) became instant modern day classics propelling them to dizzy new dancefloor heights! 2008 saw them embark on their biggest world tour to date [in support of ‘The Sun & the Neon Light’] taking in Glastonbury amongst many other leading global festivals and it was here that Booka Shade cemented their reputation as one of the most formidable live acts on the planet. With multiple mix compilations as DJs and heavy remixes for the likes of Mylo, The Knife, Hot Chip, Tiga and Moby also under their belts, we’re absolutely delighted to add Booka Shade to the Get Loaded programme this year where their sound will perfectly compliment the previously announced acts including Orbital, Röyksopp, Laurent Garnier and Miss Kitten & The Hacker.

This could also go in blog promotion, but since this is more about the albums than the blog I figured band promotion would work. Anyway, in the next few days, we'll be having some exclusive streams from two records that I'm in love with.

Friday night, we'll be having an online listening party from 7:00-10:00 p.m. EST for Pomegranates new album, "Everybody, Come Outside!" It's coinciding with the album release show that'll be happening at the same time Friday in Cincinnati. I'll also be there live-blogging/live-tweeting/live-somethinging the show.

Monday, John Davis will be taking the reigns of Buzzgrinder's regular posting. And we'll be streaming the new Superdrag album, "Industry Giants," all day long.

I've been a big fan of both bands for a while, and I wanted to help get the word out for both of these albums as much as possible. If anybody wants links to the stuff, I can give that to you.

And just for reference, being able to work with Superdrag (who was formative in my musical development) makes me feel like a teenage girl groping Hanson.

I was scanning through Myspace the other day, and I ran across this really interesting singer-songwriter called AlyssA. She's got some really great songs and apparently she is very green friendly with recycled album covers, no plastic, etc. She also has a number of songs dealing with environmental and social issues; it's great to hear a pro-active musician these days!
I recommend everyone check her out either at Cafe MUSE in Hollywood on the 29th of JAN or on myspace.

Hey all!

Just wanted you wish all of you a happy holiday and stuff! (Lately I've been under a rock from things like getting married/going back to school/life!) So we have lotsa cool stuff going on like the brand new Gentleman Auction House EP Christmas In Love, that's been getting a lot of love on the WOXY holiday mixer - you can download the EP here: http://www.mediafire.com/?cnljjwwqoz2

It's sooooooo good and not lame, and they are all originals with only one cover tune!!!!

Anyways ... in my sig are links to download a lot of the new stuff from this year, (Drew Danburry/Sinkane/Gentleman Auction House) and some oldy but goodies like Bald Eagle's Hot Shoulders and FFR's Prompts/Miscues!

(BTW, there is finally a new Foundry Field Recordings record in the gate for Feb/March ... Billy Schuh is like our own little old school Trent Reznor ... as he's been holed up in the studio for 2 years now working on the new record ... but then the last record they worked on for 3 years, so yeah this is really fast for him!)

Feel free to post a few tracks, and tell all your friends that Emergency Umbrella is still alive and fighting the good fight ... it's been a hard year, but I am soooo stoked for next year! (Being a real no-credit card/trust fund/silent-investor indie label today is brutal, and pretty thankless these days ... but we still love being able to sort of manage.)

Basically most of all it kills me that pretty much not many people get to hear this stuff that we put out with love and tuck in at night, after a mug of hot coco ... so please please please take some time and download it and hopefully enjoy the music!!! That would be the best Xmas gift ever ...

Much Love and Respect,
Nina

Nina R.
THE UNBENDING TREES LIVE IN LONDON ON THU DEC 4 | NEW SINGLE, RADIO SESSION, FEATURE

Following the enthusiasm surrounding the release of their recent debut album, 'Chemically (Happy Is The New Sad)', The Unbending Trees round off the year with a headline show at London's The Luminaire on Thu Dec 4 and a new single, 'Everybody's Lover', taken from the album on Mon Dec 8. Respected London journalist Pete Paphides flew to Budapest last week to interview the band for a major feature in The Times to be published on November 29, while Radio 1's Rob Da Bank is all set to broadcast two exclusive live tracks to preview the gig.
With references to Leonard Cohen, Red House Painters and Jacques Brel, acclaim for the Budapest trio has focussed on the raw, gothic beauty of their sound ('Utterly beguiling' / The Guardian. 'Raw, real, sensitive, cold and lonely.' / Kruger. 'Absolutely the right thing to be listening to surrounded by autumn darkness.' / Pete Paphides, The Times). Lead singer, Kristof Hajos, was thrown out of a monastery aged 18, and pianist Havasi is a revered classical performer in his home country. Together with bassist Peter Hary, and drummer Andor Gabor, they have crafted a unique, downbeat but cathartic style. Tracey Thorn guested on the first single 'Overture', championed by Gideon Coe at 6Music.
The live event will be the second party of the year from the band's label, Ben Watt's Strange Feeling Records. The last one back in February was packed. Norfolk's The Lost Levels support. Ben Watt will also be playing a downtempo DJ selection.
To celebrate Strange Feeling Records have made a special live version of 'Everybody's Lover' available as a free download.
