Elbows and Hype are not going to make you rich or popular. You have to like writing about music on a daily basis and we should merely be here to help new readers find you.. They're not going to stay if you don't write. We see a ton of blogs with a pic and a song or a pic and 30 songs. I'm not here to judge, but that doesn't really add anything to the conversation and it won't add repeat visitors, either.. it will, however, get you a stack of DMCA's.
to reiterate: The first tip to be included in Elbows (or Hype .. I'm guessing) is to write because you enjoy writing.. not because it's the thing to do.
Other helpful things:
Taking part in discussions in this forum (and not just this one)
Placing an Elbows link on your page
Having your own domain name
Having a unique design
Writing high quality posts
Being a family member of someone at Elbows
A fresh, crisp $100 bill (joking, of course - added in order to beat squashed to it)
If you are just moving hosts but staying with Wordpress, you shouldn't need to update anything unless you did something weird in the original setup of course.
Write because you enjoy writing.. - Check.
Taking part in discussions in this forum (and not just this one) - Working on it.
Placing an Elbows link on your page - Check.
Having your own domain name - Check.
Having a unique design - Check.
Writing high quality posts - Check (but... nobody thinks they have ugly kids either..)
Being a family member of someone at Elbows - As far as I know, negative.
A fresh, crisp $100 bill - Music bloggers are poor by the very definition.
Commenting in this thread with your deets - Check.

This. And more than a handful of posts. Domain name won't be happening soon though, I'm afraid. :-)
I can imagine there's quite a few people out there (like, er, me!) who aren't very good at site design, and are just using the out-of-the-box themes from Wordpress or Blogspot (or whoever). Does that count against us?

How about adding us as well? We meet all the criteria except for the posts in your forums (which I'm working on) and the lack of family members at Elbows (if you have some nice girl there I'll marry her even if my girlfriend would be pissed off). Our epilepsy inducing logo is made by our own AD, and for the quality posts, just check out the this picture:
Hey cousin! How's aunt Betty? You have a paypal accnt??? Everything else check check check except for self hosted (Blogger for now until we get bigger) and just starting to annoy and amuse people on this forum with posts...
I have sent you a few emails, inquiries, text messages, IM's, a BBM and a note by pidgeon (fits the them of our blog I guess) about our blog. Too much??
That means I don't have to marry someone of your staff... Phew!
Could you please have a look at us again though? We're three guys operating out of Stockholm and focusing on nu italo, 'blog-electro' and house. We have 74 posts since Feb 2 (a couple more coming up tonight) and we promote known and unknown music and encourage people to go see shows (mainly in Stockholm or Sweden). We've built (and are building) good rapports with a lot of music makers and we are actively supporting the Stockholm nu italo/electro scene. We've posted quite a few exclusive tracks (later turning up as "first posted" on other blogs). We've also had a few exclusive interviews, which have been referred to by other blogs and more are in the pipeline. We're also good friends with Dödselectro (http://elbo.ws/blog/7821/) and I honestly can't see why our blog would be any worse..
Anyways, being included on Elbows is an important step in our effort to gain World domination (our goal is to buy Google within the next 2-3 years), so we'd greatly appreciate if you'd add us!
Hi there.... I've noticed a lot of blogs have a party photography section or other non strictly music sections of their site... Can this restrict you from being included in elbo's and hype? The main feed would still be only music
Hey, we've been running a few months now, already have interviews with DEM SLACKERS and Manchester Duo; HEAVYFEET. If any of you on here visit our small music blog then thanks.

Hopefully to become part of the Elbo.ws site someday! Peace.
Submitted mine a couple weeks ago the traditional route, figure it is worth another go- we have lists, artist features, mp3s, and all that good stuff: A Future in Noise
www.grooversparadise.com has been waiting patiently for quite awhile now. We are a collective blog featuring writers from other blogs that specialize in 20th century music.
Hey, I've been posting for a while now and still have not been added. I believe I meet all the criteria you list at the top except for the domain name, family member and $100.
I have seen a couple of music video blogs on elbo.ws, hope to become one of them. Draw viewers in with posts in big artists (Seether, U2) so they can discover some Corroded, Tiny Masters of Today, etc.
Just joking, mate. I've been itching to do that ever since Brandon named the thread the way he did. I had visions of him luring wide-eyed newbies into the thread, all optimistic and hopeful, only to mercilessly dash their hopes like the news that there's no Tooth Fairy.
"Approve your blog? Your blog? Mwwwaaah hah haaaaa... I shall do no such thing you insect, now get out of my sight!"
Wassup!!, I`ve been running a blog for several months, i think the 95% is about music i dont have my own domain (but i will),
it is one of the few with nu-cumbia and other quirky stuff topics posted, so, check it out!! it has been already submited, hope it can be included
(some day) in the elbo.ws!!!!!
Hi, Brandon! I tried to submit my blog weeks ago, without having any response from Elbo :( It's about electronic music (house, fidget, Bmore, baile funk, bangers, ghetto-house, dubstep, jungle, and whatever is hot!) and it is focused on Toulouse (South West France) local scene, trying to promote it. But, in a more general way, it's also about our musical likes and dislikes! Could it be possible for you to have a look and to tell me if you want to add it? It's called High Maintenance in Toulouse. Here it is : http://www.highmaintenancetlse.blogspot.com
I think this has turned into the 'post your blog and be magically accepted into elbo.ws'
So i'm jumping on the bandwagon, and am asking "why haven't i been accepted yet" =(
I think I'm doing all the right things.
Maybe I'm not? You tell me elbo.ws gods
