YAYBLOG!
  • Alright, people tend to be pretty cautious about individual yayblog sentiment here. Even group yayblog back-patting causes groans. So, I'm suggesting this single thread to promote your own posts. I'm suggesting this, in part, because I'd like to be able to say, every once in a while, "look at this sweet post we have up" without being a nuisance. But, the even bigger reason is because I do a weekly blogosphere wrap up, and it'd be great to make sure I don't miss out on anything big.

Anyhow, without further ado, my first yayblog entry: Mocking Music's Pretentious List. It's really only formatted by me. All credit goes to Calum. Maybe it won't amuse you, but I thought it was pretty funny.
  • Cool. =) I don't do mega-posts like that one, but from time to time, I do get more excited than usual about a song I've posted. =)
  • Good good. I figure if no one's into individual yayblogging, then the topic will simply sink out of sight anyhow. :)
  • I think I will be adding a European/Scandanavian correspondant named Martin to the rockstar pretty soon. So that's cool.
  • Cool, how'd that come about?
  • i'm putting up ads
    *ducks*
  • I posted a track from The Sound the Hare Heard this week, its by Colin Meloy....http://www.eachnotesecure.com/?p=247
  • eachnotesecure - goddamn you rule!

um, i'm still running that contest on my blog. i'm bummed no one has had too much fun with it. (no will smith - maybe that's a good thing?)
  • Casey: He emailed me regarding that post I had about looking for a columnist, and seemed really cool and enthusiastic. I haven't gotten word back from him on the details, but hopefully It'll work out.

Speaking of contests, I'm gonna have a signed Essex Green poster, button, and copy of their new album up for grabs in early-mid may. I'm cordinating it with their myspace guy, and that is cool. Plus their sending me an extra one for keeps. I can't wait!
  • This isn't so much about one of my posts, but I got some love from blogcritics today. Yay for me!

    *bows*

Thank you, no autographs, please, I'm tired. *locks himself in his trailer*
  • Blog Festivals? (hey, about time somebody does this)

    MdM

    1. The Murder of Reality -- old post, but still my favorite little post. It was good fun putting it together.

    2. Three Versions of Judas (Part 1. 2) -- a little over indulgence, but I got to put Mum, matmos, and Mary Lou williams in one list. A lot of respond from friends.

BTW, as the coiner of the titular neologism of this thread.....YAYBLOG
  • yayblog .. sorry YAYBLOG!

  • I dont know if we got it or if all of you did as well, but we are streaming (oh the horror) 'Living With War' today.

I'm suprised. I don't hate it. It's not bad at all.
  • New Sufjan at my house today.

    EDIT: YAYBLOG
  • I'm listening to the Neil Young record now...I'm liking it too.
  • As am i wendy.
  • My, that Sufjan is one prolific man, though I guess that's from the B-sides album. Always great to hear new tracks from thi tho.

Edit: and, oops, I had forgotten who coined yayblog. YAYERIC. Second only to "the lolz have been brought".
  • apropos of nothing bloggish:

    http://www.gasbuddy.com/gb%5Fgastemperaturemap.aspx

only of interest to non-Americans curious to see the screw-job foistered upon us, blahblahblah liberal claptrap.

so, I'm sittin' phat in Monroe Co. Indiana at $2.94. who's got me beat? YAY>GIS

...also, this map would be the only rationale dragging me to Natrona, WY (2.46 WHAT)

....also, I'm on my lunch break, if it's not obvious by now.
  • So the red states pay a lot less than the blue states for fuel? Interesting.. Well, not really, just amuses me a little.

    But "screw-job foistered upon us"?

Even the most expensive prices there are ridiculously cheap. Doing a quick conversion to your crazy imperial system, the last time I filled up I paid $6.57 / gallon. And that's still far too low to be honest.
  • yeah, i realized soon after i posted this that Europeans would take a bit of umbrage, which is completely true. We're still being screwed, but you all pay more.
  • did sufjan's avalanche leak already?
  • i just posted good news today after the rushed noontime post. :)
  • Glad your grandmother's doing alright ;)
  • thanks casey. i'm glad too. :)
(didn't want to lose another grandparent - and i'm not ready to!)

    The DIY Rockstar- http://thediyrockstar.com
  • i love grandparents. Is their anything they can't do?
  • Outlive us, hopefully.

But seriously, my siblings and my parents are paying for my grandmother to fly down this summer. I'm really looking forward to seeing her. I need to find a girlfriend though, she'll be disapointed that the three-year one is gone. :P
  • grandparents are awesome. my grandmas are both strong women who don't take crap from anyone. it's great.
  • i had a bad day, but i posted go! team. everyone wins!
  • Our weekly wrap up of posts I found interesting on other blogs is up.

  • He said I should be your best friend this week!
  • My site for the last month or so and all of May has basically been devoted to this Summer Camp Artists Series I decided to do. The basic idea is to have a post on every band playing at Summer Camp, and Central Illinois Festival over Memorial Day Weekend at the end of May. I'm currently on 19 of about 45.

The majority of the music is funk, acoustic, and techno jam bands. Hippy music basically lol. However, there's something for everyone, you just have to find the right entry.

All the entries in the category can be found here:
    BurningOak.com/category/summer-camp-artists/
  • *can't breath!* :)
  • I just posted the fourth monthly wrap-up for April. I still highly recommend this monthly feature to anyone to do for their own blog. Not that you have to do exactly what i am doing but it is a great way to bring closure to a crazy month and highlight what is still sticking to the wall. I know several other sites do it pretty regularly and it is always fun to read.

    April All Wrapped Up!
  • I started Irish Week at Music For Kids Who Can't Read Good. I'm featuring all Irish bands. Butterfly Effect is kicking it off.

Also, if you haven't seen the new Wes Anderson American Express commercial, it's absolutely brilliant. I have it linked in yesterdays post

    Go!
  • i just started my own blog after parting ways with one i'd been writing for. it was for the best. Freedom is a road seldom traveled by the multitude.
