I decided to open YAYBLOG! 2.0 to continue YAYBLOG w/out the fat. Here's the original in case you want to go back and look.
Started by Mocking Casey on April 27, 2006:Alright, people tend to be pretty cautious about individual yayblog sentiment here. Even group yayblog back-patting causes groans. So, I'm suggesting this single thread to promote your own posts. I'm suggesting this, in part, because I'd like to be able to say, every once in a while, "look at this sweet post we have up" without being a nuisance. But, the even bigger reason is because I do a weekly blogosphere wrap up, and it'd be great to make sure I don't miss out on anything big. -
Oh goodie - gonna get in early so that every poor bastard will have to read this line when they open the new yahblog! thread which will no doubt lead to a gazillion views over at indiecater where we've just digitally released the Rest's new album 'Everyone All At Once'. It's great btw.

Thought it only fair to Yay! these videos I made for local band Broken Records, who are friends of mine. They've just signed to 4AD and these videos give you a pretty good idea what a great live band they are and why we were all so excited when they appeared in Edinburgh, pretty much fully-formed and out of nowhere. If I were to recommend songs they would probably be Wolves, A Good Reason, Lessons Never Learnt and probably Eilert Loevborg, although the label would probably pick different ones as those aren't the singles.

We've got two big ones:
First, after about 8 months of working off and on, I finally finished a major site overhaul. It's a pretty serious departure from our old look, but I'm hoping it's a lot cleaner and easy to navigate. I'd love feedback - overall look? ease of navigation? layout? anything else?

This is a massive, massive fucking great big Yay! with cherries on top.
I just paid Meursault a couple of hundred quid because both the album and the EP have now paid for themselves and all the rest of it is now us actually making money out of releasing records. Not much money, but it's a seriously great feeling to have had the band put their trust in us and to be able to actually pay them money for their efforts.
Today rocks. -

High five indeed. It's small beer indeed, but given we are designing every release to pay for itself, etc, having a band which breaks into the black pretty easily is a big deal. It's also nice to be working with a friend who has put his trust in you and is constantly broke because he's working his arse off to become a full-time musician and be able to actually reward him for his trust. It had, I have to confess, been weighing on me just a little, so being able to pay them is a pretty big deal.

For the first time in the 18 months or so since I started my blog, I had a reader stop by the other day and tell me they'd bought a CD because of a post I'd written (it was the Meursault EP Matthew!). That made me pretty happy.
