Youtube music mashed into an iTunes/Spotify skin for ease of use.

Admittedly it is no Spotify, but for those who don't have access to that yet I think it is pretty decent.
"Awful" seems quite a strong reaction -
What I mean is that:
- there is a girl with headphones on the front page
- It's more complex to use than youtube for the same tasks
- it looks like itunes but without the responsiveness and other good things about itunes
- The sound sucks, but that's youtube's fault, of course -
The bit I liked was the searching and artist and the site then searches youtube for all the songs of that artist's album automatically so you can stream most or all of them.
Fair points though, but it was never going to be a world beater, just a good stop gap solution -
I want people to make world beaters! :)

Why is the girl wearing headphones such a problem? It's a little goofy, but is it really that awful?

It's just a really goofy picture, like you said. That's all. I don't think it's actually a MAJOR problem. Although, it could be, aesthetically - especially with the rest of the site trying to look a bit sleek.
