Please correct me if I'm wrong but I cant seem to find the thread for this soo...
I was wondering if anybody could help out and share some of there cooler badges, for elbo.ws, hype.m etc... Even though I haven't been accepted to either of these... one day I might be so I wanted to put them on my blog. I just spent ages on my first custom blog template... the ugly things now seem to be the badges. The original ones that the sites supply don't seem that great but I have noticed some cool ones out there... If you have one your proud of please can you share them with me???
It sounds like you've checked the Elbows and Hype Machine sites. I personally don't know of any other custom ones for those sites. Maybe the blog owners customized the badges themselves? I know there a lot of free sites out there that will let you make badges but you want specifically Elbows or Hype M. Dunno, if you don't get any replies here than I would contact the blog owners who have those type of badges on their blogs. Most blogs have a contact email so you could ask them "directly" that way. Other than that, I am clueless and wish I could be of more help.
BTW, the link you posted above is messed up and points to the Elbows website. I got it proper linked here - Sam A Muze
The layout looks excellent. I see you have the small Elbows badge on the sidebar. Personally, I am not a huge fan of having "overloaded" sidebars. Sometimes it's too much a distraction from the actual content. I would just stick with the small badges for those aggregators but Note: that's just my personal opinion/preference.
@Sam - I am a "picky" SOB (comes with the age) but was looking at your site again with IE. Haven't looked at it with Firefox yet. But, one thing I see is that your right sidebar looks like it's being "cut off" due to the width of the main center column. It may be just allright in Firefox. But, if you see it too, one thing you could do is play around with the sidebar and center column widths to fix that.
Also, (told you I was picky) the "About" link and the "Contact" link at the top of the main page do not appear to be working. Should be able to set that About link to go to your Blogger User Profile. The Contact code should be easy to change in your template too - HTML Email Code Though it looks like all that info (contact and about) is in your Blogger Profile so those links at the top are sort of redundant.
Anyhow, hope you don't take offense, just wanted to offer some hopefully helpful feedback.
LOL.. Thanx HM for the pretty pic... and the great comments about my new site design.
Dont want to sound like I'm making excuses but I only put it up this afternoon so it is still in development, but ur right it does kinda look cut up on the side bar... I actually found that there are quite a few tiny bugs with the back ground.... cant believe how long this has taken me so far. But I'm soo much happier with it now than last week =D
I've been thinking about that top menu too it feels a bit redundant at the moment, I will have to come up for something cool to put up there. And as for too much side bar info, I get it! I do prefer minimalist designs... but at the same time I feel like I want to have maximum info at the top of the page and then once people start scrolling down and reading I hope that the content will stand out more.
Any way things that I can tackle tomorrow... No news on any of those buttons though.... I guess I might have to make my own.
