Best time to blog
  • Hey all!

I was wondering if you guys had discovered the best time of day post your blog to get maximum impact? Also I tend to post as and when I have the time or inspiration but do you think it may be better to have a regular posting day?

    Cheers

  • I have found that work week afternoons between, say, 2:00 and 4:00 tend to bring the most traffic. That makes sense: work can suck sometimes and you need a little break. Then again, there are a lot of insomniacs who spent half the night reading mp3 blogs. But I don't think you can (or necessarily should) try to post a certain times to garner the most attention. You'll end up chasing an audience that depends on an incalculable number of variables.
  • Also, with RSS feeds, time of day matters less.
  • I am assuming by  "maximum impact", you are referring to maximum traffic?  If that assumption is correct, then you need to analyze your particular stats to see when you usually get the most traffic.  Then optimize your posting to fit into to that.  Many variables, your location, target audience (local or distant), time zones etc.

If you are blogging when you have "time or inspiration" then the answer is blog when you have "time or inspiration".

Overall depends on your goals for your blog - get "mad traffic hits", optimize ad revenue etc. or blogging because you love music, want to expose new music and share.  Or a combination of both.  Everybody has different goals for what they want to achieve with their blog.

Never read your blog so don't know where you are coming from but that's about all I can think of.  Oh yeah, Alyssa has a good point about the RSS feed thing.

  • Hey thanks all.

I was just trying to work out why sometimes if i post there will be a big response and other times not! I didnt know if there was any rhyme or reason to it!

I think that this is partly because of the RSS because this links into my facebook and twitter feeds so if thought that if i post and a lot of people are on twitter or facebook when the feed collects it when people happen to be on line at the time.

    Time or inspiration it is!!

    Cheers

  • I find Sunday mornings, When I wake up and post a 'track of the weekend' then link it to facebook, it usually gets some pretty good feedback and interactions right away.
