Sending PMs doesn't work?

Every time I try to send a PM I get:
"Some problems were encountered
You must select a category for this discussion."
Which makes no sense seeing that I am not starting a discussion and there is no category option for PMs.. -
Yeah, I could never get that Private Message deal working either. "Start A New Discussion" has a category field. But, don't understand why you would need a category to just send a PM?
