Headphones
  • I and the other authors at metrojolt are all into headphones and I'm surprised there is no discussion on here. What you never play the music you post from you iPod too?

What are you guys currently sporting? What have you had in the past?

Any favorite over ears? I'm looking at the Sennheiser HD595s but I'm worried about leaking.
  • As much as an audiophile I would like to be - portability is a major issue so I spend my money on earbuds.

I had some Sennheiser CX500s but after they died I moved onto some a-Jays.
Sound quality/noise isolating is about the same as the CX500s but I have to admit the non-tangling cable works surprisingly well.
  • my dad wants to live out his dreams of being a rockstar vicariously through me. seeing as i have no interest in being in a rock band, he figured that a DJ would be the next best thing. one day i came home to a pair of Sony MDR-V700DJ's.

unfortunately for dad, this hasn't inspired me to DJ. though the swivel earpiece is pretty cool. no idea how they would be for actual performances--seeing as they're on the lower end of the professional equipment price spectrum i'd imagine not stellar--but for every-day use, i'm really happy with them. crisp sound. though maybe a little lacking in bass.
  • MDR-V700's are really versatile, I DJ'd with them for years. Believe me, most DJs out there (even the famous, so-called professionals) are using the cheaper variety. Some of them even use Skull Candy headphones, which makes me laugh every time I think about it.
  • It's pretty much accepted knowledge that Sennheiser HD25s are the best you can get.
  • I like buds, too. I am in LOVE with my Kilpsch s4s had them almost 8 months and they still sound/work great.

    @/doublin

Are you being sarcastic? Those are pretty low end for the Sennheiser game.

anyone have any experience with the audiotechinica m50s? Thinking about buying those..

  • Not joking. 90% of the top flight DJs use them, and if they don't it's either for sponsorship reasons, or because they don't like the feel. Not big into the home stereo scene, but when it comes to production of DJing, Sennheiser HD25s are what most people are agree have the best sound.
  • I use Sennheiser HD-25's at home, but I have long lusted after a pair of Stax SR-007 Omega II headphones. You could not tell by my avatar or my old blog logo, could you?
  • I'm all about the IEMs these days... have a pair of UE Super.Fi 3s, Meelectronics M6s, Etymotic ER6is, and some other random junk. As for other headphones... Sennheiser HD 202s and Koss KSC75s (heavily modded)

But... I listen to my roommate's Beyerdynamic DT880s whenever he lets me. I'm thinking about upgrading soon... not sure what to yet. Need to get to a hifi shop at some point
