New Design for RTV: What do you think?

    Hey everyone,

    We at RemixTheVideo just rolled out a new design and I was wondering what you guys (and gals) think of it.  What do you like about?  What do you dislike about?  Is there any particular aspect of the site I should improve?

    We went with a more minimalist design since the old site would take FOREVER to load.  I also made an effort to maximize sharing via social media with each post (facebook comments, links to reddit, stumbleupon and tumblr).  Overall, I think it is a huge step forward for RemixTheVideo and really excited to hear feedback from our readers regarding it.  We are doing the "official" announcement tomorrow.

    Hey Jess,

    I'm liking the bare-bones approach, the site is super-readable, and the branding is nice and obvious throughout.

    All too often blogs get so cluttered it's hard to discern fresh content from static columns. I've been trying to keep my new blog simple and all in one column, it's tough.

    The only thing I'm not sure about is the 'trending' box, not really sure what it adds to your site, or even what it's showing.

    Thanks for the feedback.  Our old site took so long to load that we shot for a design that was more simple and user friendly.  We also wanted to truly create a brand with the site, which based on your comments seemed to work.

    We thought the trending box was cool.  Not sure how many people use it and you do have a good point though.  It doesn't really add much to the site beyond looking cool.  Might have to rethink keeping it.

    Your site looks nice.  I prefer the two column approach myself but one column may work for you.  The track each day strategy I think will work great being on Tumblr.

    I love it. I'm a huge fan of minimalism and you've done it well. Typography type logo looks great too. It's simple and got enough down the sides to make it active and really functional.
