Hi everyone, I've always like tumblr and I hadn't used it or designed anything for it so I had a go at designing a very clean minimalist theme from scratch. It's a good way to procrastinate from revision for my exam on Wednesday. It's all just example posts at the moment, I might never use it. It was a spur of the moment thing. But I do love chilled/ambient music so I thought this clean mellow theme could reflect it.
Anyway, comments on the design and functionality. It's not completely done, I need to sort out the notes and date site aswell as the padding of the post text.
I'm liking the clear layout there MFM. Using multiple tumblrs for genre-specific posts is a good idea. I'm currently using tumblr to host Track each Day.
I've had some issues with tumblr myself, the most annoying being the lack of titles on video and audio posts and a subsequently screwed up RSS feed. The only way round it I've found is to write everything as a text post and embed any media.
Let me know if you find any work arounds, or tumblr tips for music blogs.
By tumblrs do you mean blogs/sites? Well I'm not trying to break up my blog, think of it as a separate site, enabling music selection to be more refined or different from my main site. If I was to start this up I would think of it as a whole new blog to be honest.
Thanks for the comment Mike, I've just been using the same method as you, embedding pictures and soundcloud players, allowing customisation and formatting to be a lot better than separate audio and picture posts.
