NAYBLOG!
  • that's really weird... works on the proxy, won't load in ie or firefox for me... ah well, least i can check it out... thanks Tim!
  • Sounds like your IP is blocked from their server. Best thing to do would be to reboot your router if you're on a dynamic IP internet connection (most are in the UK but I have no idea about the US). Fingers crossed the next IP won't be on the ban list... Or if you're on a static IP just email Matthew and tell him - I'm sure he'll sort you out.
  • thanks Tim
  • Anyone know what's going on with Missing Toof lately? been a couple months: http://missingtoof.com/2009/03/24/technically-difficult/
  • seems to be twittering semi-actively: http://twitter.com/missingtoof
  • Losing Shake Your Fist is really a bummer.  For a long time when I was trying to explain how great music blogs were to friends, I would just send them to read Amy's writing.
  • Something I Learned Today - I think that he quit a long time ago, but blog was still there in one form or the other.

Now its gone for good, I believe.
  • That was a really good site years back--introduced me to a ton of great punk & hardcore
  • I'm moving to South Africa (Cape Town) in a couple weeks and ipickmynose is going to go dormant August 1 whether to become active again (eventually) or not is to be seen. I'm trying to get in all those posts I've been thinking about for years before time's up!
  • Good luck with the move Adrian
  • Adrian, I haven't really read your blog as much as i should have (didn't really know about it) but many bloggers I respect have spoken highly of it. so hopefully while you're getting all those posts in before time's up i'll be able to read a bunch before you go! best of luck with your move.
  • Unless there's some weird month+ long Canadian holiday I'm not familiar with it seems Sixeyes (http://sixeyes.blogspot.com/) is gone on permanent hiatus. Sixeyes was one of the first music blogs and has consistently highlighted bands that deserved more attention.

Also a blog that covered music and other arts has called it quits. Fabulist (http://www.fabulist.org/) claims to be redesigning so maybe they will return.

A few days late on checking my rss... if you know Frank and haven't seen it, I suggest you do.
  • Nayblog experiment going on here:

    http://www.songsillinois.net/2009/07/mp3-sam-baker-cotton-music-road-records-august-25/
  • Danielle from "Music Is Art" is taking a month off - though her site has other contributors, so I'm not quite sure how it's going to work...
  • Maybe me.  I need to get some balance back in my life.  My obsession with blogging has caused me to abandon too many other important activities.  It has been a relief the past three weeks to just not do it.

it was only a brief hiatus while funeral stuff was sorted.  Am back now and totally need the distraction - thanks for noticing, though
  • Linda - I'd be sad to see you go. :(
  • Yes, Linda, that would be rotten.  Good, of course, if that's what you need, but sad for the rest of us.
  • Wow, Vic and Matthew--I really appreciate your saying that--it puts weight on that side of the argument.
  • There's no argument.  If you need a break I would unequivocally encourage you to take one.  We'll sulk, but blogging is about loving blogging - in my head anyway - and if you find more satisfaction in taking  a break than in constantly churning out posts then there is no doubt in my mind that a break is what you need.

We'll squeal like bitches mind you, but it's still probably the best course of action.  *sniff*
  • Yeah, I agree too, I definitely miss Speed Of Dark and it's only been a few weeks. Though, I can relate to taking a break if needed. Just hope, you come back soon Linda!
  • Linda- I certainly understand the need for a break, I'd just miss ya! If you do end Speed of Dark, you are always welcome to guest post at Muruch if you get the itch to write in future. :)

So are Tart & I the only chick bloggers left then?

    http://thabombshelter.blogspot.com/2009/08/and-so-weve-come-to-end.html

Got bigger fish to fry than spend my evenings blogging.  I hope to keep in touch with several of you folks who are genuine friends now (I imagine several of you know who you are).
  • *gulp*

    Bye Harry, all the best.

    Fuck.
  • adrian and http://blog.ipickmynose.com/ is done for now. He moved off to South Africa. I asked him to report on the music scene out there...
  • Posted by: muruchhttp://everybodycares.blogspot.com A sad day for music blogs. :( After Fingertips, Everybody Cares was one of the first 100% legal music blogs I knew about, and it inspired me to change my own posting practices back in the day. Chad was another victim of Blogger's deletions, even though he only posts legal mp3s. Though I'm sure real life had some bearing on his decision to close, it seems obvious Blogger's attacks played a big part it in as well.

Not sure if others have noticed but Chad's been back and at it over on a tumblr site since August. And he claims he'll be posting more than before. Yesssssss.

  • Currently having the urge to nayblog myself. I'm running out of time... looks like summer 2010 will probably be the end of it at least if I want to give the MCAT a fair shot, not sure if I could continue doing it.

I digress...thinking way too far ahead but I'm really seriously thinking about it.
  • I'm looking at December 24, 2011, personally
  • we should all be like LOST and have specific end dates in mind to keep readers on the edge of their seats

joke aside, hope you make whatever move you think best suits you, Allan - gl with w/e you got going on, blog or otherwise
  • NO NO NO NO NO

    FUCK IT

    MARS NEEDS GUITARS
  • Would you keep the blog going with the current writers, Allan? Or shut it down all together?
  • I'm not sure. I definitely would ask if someone wanted to take over and just leave me out of the picture. I'll have to talk to my writers. I think I'll keep it going until at least January 2010. I really want to take the PCAT in January so New Year's after the end of the year lists get completed I may decide to hang it up.
  • My blog was inactive for about a month (pretty much all of September), but I've started up again...elbo.ws has stopped channeling my posts...whuuuut?

    >>>>>>>>HAPPYDAY.TK<<<<<<<<<
  • Doesn't look like title and score has updated since May.
  • that is a bummer! that blog has a klever set up
  • Benn loxxo du taccu - a.k.a the best African music blog and one of the best music blogs in general - is going on indefinite "pause". :(
  • I don't like this thread. Makes me sad and reminds me that TSURURADIO can't go on forever. When I do go out.... I'm taking everyone with me.
  • what would be even sadder, i think, is if you were to stop blogging and no one reported your demise!
  • hahaha Tsuru!!!!!!! I'll make a cheezy horror Flick out of it.

    Attack of the Flying Tsuru
(it will come out every year near halloween...at least up til number VI.
The main person will always die and mysteriously come back in one form or another in the next one, eventually having sidekicks or accomplices.
  • @ mjrc - yeah, but at the same time, life goes on, eh?

@ wolf - lol! love it!
  • Oh... btw, not sure if it's been mentioned but Popsense called it quits the other week. Nice guys, sure we'll see them again in some form or fashion.
  • uh oh....

    ben loxo is going hiatus

    http://bennloxo.com/
  • It's odd about Popsense, I was never quite clear on why they quit.
  • I was talking to them, they want to find their niche and didn't feel it with Popsense. Jeff writes for flavorwire, and I think the other guys write for other stuff as well. So, they'll be back in a different form (maybe) one day.
  • Well, not exactly, but Maura's leaving Idolator.  Good luck!
