NAYBLOG!
  • shut it
were all alone in a harsh harsh world.
  • hmmmm ok - kinda like Together Alone in a Crowded House?

  • I wonder whether a good alternative to bloggers giving it up would be if they could merge with as many other blogs as it would take so everybody would have an acceptable workload? When the day comes that work, well more likely kids, rightfully require the attention and time I typically devote to blogging, I think I'll look to glom on to another blog and contribute as much as I can, if they'll have me. I am not sure I could go cold turkey off plus-ones and promo discs...
  • Consolidation sounds good in theory, but in reality I bet most bloggers are too control freakish to give up some of the power this would entail. I made a mistake asking someone I didn't really know to join us last year and spent a lot of time fretting over quality issues. From now on, I'd only add good friends who I knew had the taste, creativity and, above all, writing skills (like my remaining blogmates), or another blogger I already really admired and knew would be sympathetic to the way I do things.
  • Yeah, I hear that, I only invite on permanently guys I've actually physically worked with at real editorial jobs or who I've known for my whole life. Unfortunately, that hasn't really netted me a lot of help... but when it comes it's great.
  • i think some guys tried this a few years back, it's called www.pitchforkmedia.com

seriously though, guys, having regular contributors seems counter-productive to having readers ostensibly interested in your personal taste. guest articles are cool though. if i just wanted something new mp3s everyday, I'd just go to hype machine.

  • I keep saying to myself that I'd like to have another contributor or two, but I never seem to bother doing anything about it.  Which probably means that I don't really want to give up the aforementioned control.

I've technically got one additional contributor but I think his count is 2 of the 188 posts.  I think I'd still like another person or two, but it would have to be someone who lined up with me pretty much perfectly taste wise, and those people are pretty hard to find.
  • I've been a little light lately, but only because I've been devoting the lion's share of my time toward my other endeavour.
  • "Since 1977" - so you started this gig when you were, like, six months old?  Impressive - that is indeed Walking the Talk!!
  • What would you do without google Eric!
  • Hehehe, this comic made me think of this thread:

Head to http://www.marriedtothesea.com/ for more of 'em.
  • i'm going to un-nayblog good hodgkins

i've had enough of this hiatus, plus i think i'm getting a mention in the next issue of slate, so i probably should start writing again.

was going to bring it back today but i had to constantly eat with jewish relatives this weekend so i didn't have time to finish up some stuff.

    i'll be back midweek.
  • stinkin jews...always makin me eat...
  • Melvin Gibson, is that you??
  • Not a blog, and I don't know how heavily it was trafficked, but I noticed in my daily perambulation of the InterWeb over lunch that IndieWorkshop has announced an indefinite hiatus.
  • That's too bad. I like(d) that site's small, personal feel.
  • wow. I think my entire blog just got wiped out.

I'm screwed. all that dedication for nothing.
  • I see no problem with Obscure Sound, Mike.
  • ah, thank god for backups.

all seems to be working now.

everyone: back up wordpress if you haven't already! there are a lot of bugs lately.
  • Tofu Hut.  (Forksie!  Forksie, come back!)
  • no fucking way. the tofu hut was great. :(
  • i'm blogging at the speed of snails lately, but i am not dead yet. i actually haven't slowed down at all; i have like 15 drafts in various states of completion.
  • On January 1st, 2007 I am going to take InvisibleLimb.net into the woods, hold a shot gun to the back of its head, and put it out of its misery.

Will you leave a marker, so when we're out hiking we won't trip over it?  It is invisible after all...

  • The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.  There are fresh posts again at Knobtweakers.  Enjoy.

  • insert sadface here.  gina is a sweetheart and a great writer.
  • that is incredibly sad...i always loved reading her site, and she was always tremendously kind, to boot...
  • We're going on an indefinite hiatus as of tomorrow, probably for good.
  • Gonna try and do a few updates everyday day for the next two weeks. I may have another gig lined up soon.

    Rats.
  • I guess I'm finally SOMEBODY!

I got my first WebSheriff notice thanks to the Shins mp3s.  I guess I kind of expected it, after the leak earlier, but I was also hoping the fact that it comes out next week would change matters, I guess not

Would it be in poor taste to post the email they sent me? :-p

  • Dude, you're sounding a bit too much like John Hinkley here ;-)
  • is it a nayblog if nobody ever visited to begin with? sort of like if a tree fell in a forest... sigh.
  • touchthatdial: if you ever come to ireland I'll pour you a proper guinness!
