Literary blogs?
  • This is totally self-serving as we have a band right now that has written each song on their album about a Steinbeck novel, but I was wondering if there were any combo literary/music blogs out there.  Any tips?  Anybody wanna get in touch?  Large-hearted Boy comes to mind immediately, and Said the G. is definitely in that ballpark.  Anyway, just throwing it out there.
  • I think moistworks is close to what you're looking for, esp. it's lit week stuff
  • LHB would love that.

Sounds cool by the way, I love Steinbeck. You may also want to hit PopMatters.
  • I will send to you Wendy, if you'd like.  Band called Ray's Vast Basement (the band name itself is based on a short story written by the songwriter Jon).  Guys from the Decemberists and Black Fiction play on it.  LHB is actually already doing something!  Hit me up for full album download: lucas at team clermont dot com.

    Rock!
  • I am just this moment listening to the album.  The songs are terrific, never mind any of the literary bobbins!
  • i think we already wrote about it!
  • You sure did, Sean.  You guys know how to pick a winner.  I would say that it's one of the best things I'm working now, and people really need to start getting all over it.
  • I have a few book reviews on my site, but I listen to so much music I don't have enough time to read as much as I'd like.

  • that's a really cool concept. i think i did read about it on said the gramophone one time, probably why it sounds familiar.
  • I totally missed this thread earlier... Jon Bernson of Ray's Vast Basement contributed to my blog's "Note Books" series and discussed the literary inspiration behind every track on the album. Many thanks to Lucas for setting it up.
