i am a huge fan of cloud cult, in fact, advice from the happy hippopotamus is one of the main reasons i started blogging. unfortunately, i could not get into this album. i don't know what it was exactly. a sense of their trying too hard, the songs sounded too much like some of the stuff off happy hippo? i liked a few of them, but i never found myself putting the cd on and listening to it straight through, which made me feel very sad and guilty.
I noticed Newsweek put up its 2007 list. What's going on this year, guys? Another mainstream list whose tastes don't make me want to vomit with rage? Either I'm getting less cool (yeah right) or the usual dichotomies really have become blurrier than ever. (I'm still not saying it's a great list, but you know, it's a plausible one at least.)
I also posted my Top 5 Songs of 2007:
http://muruch.blogspot.com/2007/12/contrast-podcast-festive-50-part-2.html

2. Anaïs Mitchell: "Shenandoah"
3. Glen Hansard & Marketa Iglova (Once sndtrk): "Falling Slowly"
4. Eleni Mandell: "Moonglow Lamp Low"
5. Mavis Staples: "Down In Mississippi"
Posted by: squashedMJ is allegro type of gal... heh. I think I will start categorizing people by bpm, like dance tracks.
that's pretty funny, categorizing by bpms. especially since i'm normally not an allegro type of gal! : )

Just in case anyone didn't hit this thread, submit your Top 10 Lists over at Hype Machine:
Each list shows data from the beginning of the year up to Dec. 10, 2007.
Here are 2007's superstars of P2P.
Top Songs of 2007
1. Shop Boyz, "Party Like A Rock Star"
2. Akon, "I Wanna Luv U"
3. Sean Kingston, "Beautiful Girls"
4. Mims, "This Is Why I'm Hot"
5. Akon, "Don't Matter"
6. T-Pain, "Bartender"
7. Soulja Boy, "Crank Dat Soulja Boy"
