    haha. useful site.
  • You know, I gotta say, for me, all day the YayBlog! thread has shown 2010 comments.  Anyone else have this?
  • "hoo-gaarden" it is, sorta

It's definitely NOT Who-gaarden! Excellent beer by the way

  • well then what is it?

i love it with a slice of orange in the glass. yum.

"hoo-gaarden" is a pretty good bet I guess - if you know how to pronounce "hoch" in German (and then remove the "ch" at the end) you know exactly how to pronounce Hoegaarden :)

  • Marcy I can say with near total certainty that pronouncing it properly in an English-speaking country will get you looked at like a muppet.  Everyone says Ho-garden here, as in to actually go out and hoe your garden, and whilst I know this is wrong, to suddenly go out and start pronouncing it properly would make me feel like a right pretentious muppet.  Similarly Lowenbrau.
  • well, i always said hoe-garden, but on the six-pack carrier it said "who"-garden, so i suddenly got confused. the world doesn't need a confused marcy wandering around, you know. ;-)
  • There was a radio ad that was saying :

"If you have forgotten how to pronounce the name of the Hoegaarden white beer, here's an idea to refresh your memory:

Imitate a polar bear who looks behind onions (mean someone who cries and sniffs)

    Boo Hoo hoo ooo...

Then a complete moron Eskimo (mean laughter of a man beta)

    Gaaaa ...

Then the Abominable Snowman who receives his income taxes (means a huge growl)

    Rrrrrrr ...

Then a penguin who plays the triangle (we heard a voice mimicking the ringing of a triangle)

    Den !....

Remember Hoo gaa ... ... ... rrrr den!"
