what song are you waking up to?
  • hi everyone, just started a blog not too long ago called i'm waking up to...

do pop by if you're free, and really, i'll love to hear what you are waking up to.

    thanks! all feedback welcome too.
  • I always listen to some folky stuff early in the morning, eases me into the day.
  • Ooooh, this is cool.

I love to wake up to:

    Broken Social Scene - Swimmers
    Voxtrot - Introduction
The White Stripes - We're Going to Be Friends
Camera Obscura - Books Written for Girls
    Annuals - Brother
Pedro the Lion - Winners Never Quit
  • the lions- metal heavy lady
  • Dolly Parton's 'Why'd You Come In Here Looking Like That'...it's the alarm tone on my phone! :o)
  • haha the alarm tone on my phone is april march's "chick habit". sure gets me up in the morning
  • Nuyorican Soul - I Am The Black Gold of the Sun (4Hero Remix)

    almost every day
  • Love it love it Loudersoft!! :o)
  • Fucking links.  I bet MusicAbyss doesn't have this problem.

  • sorry now but im mad about this song,
new one on the scene man, totally reaching!!
  • Award Tour - ATCQ
  • I wake up to sports talk radio.

Once I leave the bedroom I turn on the news.

On my morning commute I tune into Sports radio again.

It's usually 8:30ish before I play any music at all.
  • sports radio FTW.

i wake up to talk radio and pretty much listen to it most of the day when i'm at work/in my car. 700 WLW, baby. the nation's station!
  • This, of course.

I like your blog a lot. That Rural Alberta Advantage song you posted is great.
  • I love my Nokia "hurdy gurdy" ringtone
  • You know. Lately I've been having a ton of allergy problems so sometimes my snoring gets the wife so pissed she kicks my ass out of bed and I end up sleeping on the couch.

On those mornings I use my cell phone alarm and Flo Rida's In The Ayre song as my alarm.

Then, my bedroom alarm clock goes off and wakes the wife up to sports radio....
  • taylor, yeah that's the song that started it all for me.

love your blog too, especially the mixes. and i'm sure it helps i'm a big zoolander fan at the same time.
  • Chairlift - Bruises has been on repeat all day yesterday and ever since I got up. = 60 plays since yesterday. Time to listen to an album perhaps.
  • Marnie Stern is really great wake-up music. Transformer.

Perhaps a bit harsh if you aren't a "morning person."
  • The National's 'All The Wine' is the alarm tone on my phone, but I usually use my radio, tuned to Triple J and turned up REALLY LOUD because otherwise I sleep right through it. Makes for a few scary bolt-upright-in-bed moments!
  • What part of Australia do you live in, Agnes?
  • My phone alarm sings "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others." It just makes me giggle every day.
  • to commemorate the 100th post, i've invited belle and sebastian's stuart murdoch to share what he's been waking up to.

    check it out!
  • I like to wake up to electronica, but I should probably start waking up to Napalm Death.
  • I live in Victoria Taylor. Personally, I think it's the most boring state in Australia, but everyone probably thinks that about where they live! The good thing is that most bands who come to Oz do a Melbourne gig or two, and I can usually get down there to check it out. If you live in Darwin or Adelaide you often miss out. And Hobart? Not even on the radar usually!
  • One of my best pals is from Melbourne and he swears it's the best city in Australia.  He could be making it up of course...
  • That he could. I think it is too, but then I haven't been to every city in Australia, so my opinion is less than well informed!
  • I have this 40 minute Larry Levan Mix that helps me get going when I'm feeling sluggish. It's better than coffee.

this week, we're waking up with tracyanne campbell of camera obscura!
  • #100 waking up with… stuart murdoch ---> good punky music
  • not sure but it sounds an awful lot like my cat being a whiny little dude.
  • am i the only one that sees this thread as "wanking" instead of "waking" every time? geesh!
  • ^ Do you need music to get off ?

I wake up to that annoying quasi-reggae midi found on $10 Nokias.
  • no necessity, only enhancement i'm sure :)
  • Broken Social Scene - KC Accidental
  • shut up and let me sleep some more....
  • JUDE - SLICK

    http://eddiegun.blogspot.com
  • Au Revoir Simone - Dark Halls
  • The hubby sets his alarm to something new every day. Usually jazz or classical, today it was "Over The Rainbow" (my favorite song:).
  • The Who - Teenage Wasteland to get the blood flowing.
  • today its cleveland is the reason- kid cudi. nice and smooth to ease off the hangover and get ready for the week
  • Bryon - The title is actually "Baba O'Riley". Common misunderstanding. :) Great song!
  • Very correct, I knew there was something wrong with it, thank you for the correction.
  • No worries...we've all done it at one time or another! It's actually a joke between my hubby & me. He once tried to impress me with his music knowledge by saying "You know, a lot of people think this song is called "Teenage Wasteland", but it's really "The Magic Bus". :) Mockery has been the basis of our relationship ever since.
  • Isn't mockery the foundation for every healthy relationship?

Oh, and I've been greeting the day with Alessi's Ark - Patchwork of Dreams.
  • Cagedbaby mix really cool and eclectic

check it out on our blog if you like

  • Recently I discovered these songs on the season finale of the show Life and they have been pretty much waking me up every day for the last couple of days :) Very calming mornings

    “Lifelong Lullaby” by Will Derryberry

“More Than Alive” by Hayden. (Great Song)
    “A new beginning” – 26

you can also find them on one of my blog posts

  • (not sure why I see the need to fuck with this thread again! :) )

is it unfair to insert the song I'm drifting off to sleep to? I can't get this album out of my headphones and this track especially:

For Sparrow Cabinet of Natural Curiosities Searchlight Needles

but the whole album is perfect for clearing the mind at the end of the day or starting it out nice and slow,

    xoxo
