grizzly bear 7" Pavement Live LP Tom Waits - Small Change LP Tom Waits - Nighthawks At The Diner (2.99!) LP Iggy Pop - Raw Power LP Silver Jews - Starlite Walker LP
i wish i had more money to waste spend on records yesterday. i had the mc5, bird/loney, beck/sonic youth, tom waits in my hand... but had to put them down when i remembered the jesus lizard box set was there. it was very sad. there were plenty others there i wanted, but didn't even bother putting in my "buy" stack.
i also wanted to get the thao/thermals, grizzly bear and russian circles/taas, but they didn't have those. so enough of what i didn't buy. here's what i got:
• jesus lizard box set • stooges "1969/real cool time" • cursive/ladyfinger split 10" • guided by voices "hold on hope" • flaming lips/black keys split • flight of the conchords "pencils in the wind/albi the""
plus a bunch of free vinyl and a PBR turntable cover
- Shearwater "Rook" (vinyl)
- Pixies "Surfer Rosa" (vinyl)
- The One AM Radio "A Name Writ In Water" (vinyl)
found out about Quiet Village's "Silent Movie" being out of print due to some major controversy regarding sampling. Bummer. Couldn't find any Max Richter or Russian Circles/Taas
talked to Aesop Rock about the Weathermen album and being on the same plane as him on the way back from Boston last week.
Good times.
harry - was permanent recs as packed for you as it was for us when we dropped by in the afternoon? I could hardly move, let alone buy anything.
from Dusty Groove, I got: Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings : Try Me 7" Numero Group : Downriver Revival LP "This LP Crashes Hard Drives" Compilation Baby Washington / Don Gardner : Lay A Little Lovin' On Me LP
Bond- Yeah, my wife actually had to step outside it was so claustrophobic (not to mention the hipster stink lingering in the heat). We definitely missed the kitty, but the owner said it was too busy for her to be out and about.
Numero Group "This Record Crashes Hard Drives" 12″
the Camera Obscura 7″
the Elvis Perkins 7″
I also got Barsuk's custom Jones Root Beer Soda as a freebie as well as some samplers.
Amoeba:
the Magnolia Electric Co. 7″
the Bruce Springsteen 7″
the Booker T 7″
the El Perro del Mar/ Lykke Li split 7″
The Magnolia Electric Co. 7" was scratched right out of the sleeve. How crappy is that? It actually skipped "like a broken record" on my first play. I'm not happy about that.
