I found this (http://elbo.ws/vanilla/comments.php?DiscussionID=2595&page=1#Item_12) but I'm still having issues. I use iTunes to copy the coverart over to the mp3s then use MB Picard before uploading to opendrive. But elbo.ws is still not detecting the artist. I even changed the link text to read as the songtitle exactly, still isn't working. The weird thing is that is was working a few weeks ago. Any ideas?
what constitutes a proper ID3 tag? I use mp3 tag already and it appears that some of my mp3's arent getting picked up. Are there fields that need definately need filling? fields that dont matter? syntax or characters that you shouldnt use? Cheers
I tried using MP3tag and also Tag&Rename (as recommended by elbo.ws) but both resulted in the same thing. I think it's a problem with Opendrive as a lot of people are experiencing the same symptoms (http://elbo.ws/vanilla/comments.php?DiscussionID=2255). I have tried both the streaming links and the download links and both aren't getting picked up. Then again it could be a problem with my enclosures and wordpress setup.
Too many variables :/
EDIT: and not sure whether should be encoding with i3v1, v2, v2.3, ISO, UTF etc... confusing.
I imagine most ID3 tags are v2.3 these days - so if you are creating them for MP3s, I would go with that if you want to pick - it is the most up to date version and can contain a lot of information - http://www.id3.org/id3v2.3.0
I would imagine that Elbo.ws and HypeM can pick up v1, 2, or 2.3 though to be honest
I have always just used the mp3tag default with regards to the tags I use - which for reference are ID3v2.3 UTF-16 - and they have always worked fine.
As you said it may well be OpenDrive - if HypeM and Elbo.ws are not able to download the entire MP3 as the server is crashing or similar then the ID3 tags will look wrong for sure.
Hmm, any suggestions for Mac, because my tagging is a bit of a nuisance at the moment.
Also, is there anything out there like MediaMonkey (which I love) or Foobar for a Mac? I despise iTunes, but Songbird isn't really strong enough on the music management side of it (specifically, tagging and lack of a folder tree, like MediaMonkey has for browsing). At the moment I am using a bit of both, which is a phenomenal nuisance.
I NEED A NOT SHIT MUSIC PLAYER/MANAGER FOR MY FUCKING USELESS FUCKING MAC PLEASE GOD SOMEONE HELP ME OUT HERE BEFORE I SHOVE THIS CUNTING THING UP STEVE JOBS' FAT, SMUG, RICH FUCKING ARSE!
