iAlbums
  • Anyone else get an email this morning from iAlbums? Worth getting involved? Couldn't really figure it out (I didn't try had). Also anyone know anything about this Music Robot thing. #confused.
  • Music Robot is a blog collective of sorts... you'll see more soon :)

iAlbums is something I'm not sure about to be honest. The idea seems to be that it is a music app that pulls in data about a band when you are playing a song by them. This data includes their wiki page, other release info, and supposedly articles from music blogs. I'm not really sure why a blog would say yes to having their content rolled into this app though as of yet - they don;t really explain any positives other than "more readers of blogger's content", which is great and all but I think most bloggers would prefer to be either paid for their content being used, or have it shown on their own site...
  • It seems I may have been a little quick to judge iAlbums, I just had a message from a member of their team explaining that they only pull in excerpts of blog posts with links to see the whole post on the actual blog through the in-app browser.

    Here's how they explained it:

The idea behind iAlbums is not about featuring your blog posts in their entirely, but to have an excerpt from the post, you will decide what will be its length (as you can have an access to the back office), and direct the readers to your blog, in your website, to read the entire post.

Think of it as a gateway; we give all listeners an ‘information center’, where they can browse around links we provide. They can choose to open the photos or run videos, or read texts, but that all happens in the inapp browser, in the website itself – we just supply the feed of links to all other places, and by that give the listener a great experience, the blogger gets loads of traffic from listeners, and the artists get a better engagement with their listeners. By the way, artists will soon be able to curate their own feed, choose which items will be featured in the feed, and contribute exclusive content for the listener’s experience).

Howdy, Stranger!
