There really isn't an easy way about this. You can go with services like Shuffler.fm or ex.fm, but ultimately if you want something like that, you're going to need to get the basic coding foundation to setup Soundmanager2 and get it all w…

It's hard to say exactly what's coming from where, but w/ ~20 comments a day, I have little doubt that there's traffic coming in. That basically means ~20 people are sharing to their feeds every day.Jason

Advertisements: Useful or Distraction
Most of our ads are running through SPIN....but occasionally we do direct sales w/ some folks. Until you're doing 500k+ pageviews monthly, deals like that probably won't manifest :-(

Yep, I'd say there are very few above 1 million. Excluding hip-hop, I can think of roughly 10 music blogs > 1 million.

I agree with Tim and Squashed. While you're still small, it's not worth the effort. But, once you're approaching 100k pageviews a month, it can begin to be worthwhile. At these levels, you can probably make $100 - $200 per ad per…

I dig it, dude. Noticing something a little off on the FB widget? Seems like the text is getting smooshed.

Indie Shuffle v3.0
Hey Squashed, responded to some of your comments. But dropped off at the end -- I think we have very different visions here. The front page looks like music e-store. (album pic, short blurb, very strict graphic outlay.) Yep, it's pretty consist…

Jobs and other such mischief
I know David from SFCritic is now working at Thrillcall -- no doubt through connections made running his blog. Also Pigeons&Planes is now working for Complex. Again, through the blog connect!

@Squashed -- you're making me think here. You're saying the frontpage needs variation, which is confusing because it already has that. What I think you're trying to convey is that people will gloss over the bottom, short posts because …

Responding to the Countless E-Mails
I tend to ignore them, unless it's an eye-catching release from artists I'm already familiar with. The volume is just too high to possibly go through all of them, particularly as most of us have other full-time jobs. It got to the point wh…

Wordpress. No doubt. The flexibility is leagues better than blogger in terms of hosting it on your own.

Are Bounce Rates Important?
APFOS -- sorry mate, but I have to be skeptical about those numbers. They just don't make sense! Anyway, for reference...our average time on site is 12 minutes and bounce rate is 64%.

The advantage to premiering something is being "first" on Hypem. Tim covered the rest.

Slowest Traffic Days
I don't think the slow traffic on weekends has as much to do with whether you post or not. It's simply that everyone is out and about, rather than sitting at home / in the office in front of a computer. Mobile traffic, meanwhile, spikes lik…

Are Music Blogs Dying?
You have to keep working for your traffic. It doesn't come magically. Plateaus are completely normal, as are dips. Just wait until the Christmas season...ouch!

Are Music Blogs Dying?
Yeah, our traffic keeps growing. Spotify + Pandora are exposing a new population to music -- and providing new tools for discovery -- but most of their audience weren't the type to check out music blogs anyway. If they're enticing more user…

How To Get Traffic From StumbleUpon
Guys, I'm going to discontinue this. The results were mixed, so I'm not going to push it any further. I don't think SU likes mutual thumb-ups, and I assume they're fairly easy to track.

I think they're smarter than that. I conjecture that they likely cancel out mutual thumb-ups, thus rendering all of our work void.
