New Social Media Toys: Twitter's Follow Button & Google's +1 Button
It does affect SEO. The +1 button impacts search results in that if your friends have +1'ed something, they're going to tailor your search results so that you see those posts. That way you can blame your friend if a post sucks :-) I'm…

Matthew, would love to see your coding. I'd reckon you just have it integrated incorrectly, though I'm open to reconsideration.

Impact of Hypem Redesign: Data Analysis
@gtimusic The Wordpress stats plugin is actually the one that's wrong. GA is accurate. The Wordpress stats plugin will count all sorts of non-legit hits, including simple pings from other servers, spambots, etc. GA is the industry standard for a…

@zechmann -- not sure the rules for Amazon, but with iTunes, anything purchased within there for the next 3 days is 5% commission, so that includes Apps and movies.

+1 to Too Many Sebastians' frustration. I personally tend to resent the blogs that don't accompany MP3s with text. On the flip side, I'm somewhat okay with the "first." Perhaps the solution is to 'purge' the shitty …

Some Honest Opinions?
Hey MFM, One thing I would definitely do is go into your Wordpress settings and change the domains for posts so that they actually contain the title of the post, rather than ?p=457. It's much better for search engine optimization, and looks coo…

To MOG or not to MOG?
@SGTMT -- I'd hold off on advertising until you're doing at least 60k pageviews a month. Then MOG might be very useful in terms of getting the hang of how vertical ad networks function, so that as you grow you can expand to new networks @L…

To MOG or not to MOG?
I had some issues with them, and ultimately we agreed that I would not have any MOG branding on my website, as SPIN wasn't happy with that (understandably). To be frank, neither was I. The lesson I learned? That they're ultimately pretty fl…

Best adverstising?
Note that Anthony's formula works for 1 ad. If you have 2 or 3 ads on your site, you can multiply that -- though given that a realistic fill-rate is 30%, it'll take 3 ads for you to hit the 100% fill-rate #s he assumed :-)

+1 to Tim. You gotta keep that above the fold. It needs some serious real-estate. Re: fill-rates -- you're not going to hit 100%. We try really hard to have 100% of our pageviews covered by ads, but it's more like 30%-75% with all 3 networ…

Ben, I'd look into using Google Analytics or Sitemeter. "Hits" aren't exactly a measure of traffic, as they don't represent people. Instead, they're tracking everything that pings your website (yes, people included). If …
