SOPA
We couldn't get the javascript to work for reasons unknown, so we went with a Wordpress plugin. There are a ton of them available for anyone who had a similar issue.

Responding to the Countless E-Mails
I'm pretty much with Jason on this. At one time, I did try to politely respond to everything, but after 5 years it has become an impossible task. I just use rules in Outlook to shuffle music-related stuff into a subfolder, and try to periodicall…

Dailymail.co.uk is Bitching and Moaning for Big Labels
Yeah, I have to say that Adele is pretty great. No reason to lump her in with this just because someone decided to randomly drop her name in an article. That aside, I did have a good chuckle at "creative champions such as Warner Music".

I'm backing up Vic on this one. 'Live Through This' is definitely a landmark album. Hard to believe it's almost 20 years old.

Hypem is owned by Buzz Media? W00t?
I feel like this came up before, and Anthony explained that they weren't owned by Buzz Media but were just part of the Buzz Media network. But I might be making that up.

It wasn't just the mp3 you posted David, I've had their stuff routed my way here and there over the years and I just couldn't quite wrap myself around it. I'll have to revisit their catalog and see if my tastes have shifted.

How to stop hotlinking?! HELP
I wonder if that Downplayer actually conducts any of the interviews/reviews or if those are stolen as well? Also interesting that the 'contact' box mentions sending them music or advertising on the blog, but nothing about complaints/removal…

Dead Can Dance is one of those bands that I felt like I should be into but never quite got around to. I love a lot of moody goth stuff but somehow they seemed a bit *too* morose and dirge-y.

Simple Wordpress pages question
So you mean you put a link in your header and the link doesn't show up? Or you aren't sure where to put the links?

Simple Wordpress pages question
If you have categories on your site it will automatically build 'pages' for them. That's all that's happening on the blog link you provided. Do you mean you don't know how to link to those category pages from your main page?

Labels vs. Streaming

Popularity isn't my problem. And all the mp3 files are hosted elsewhere, so that's not putting any additional load on the server. That's why I'm so annoyed by this. I waited on hold for 40 minutes this morning just to be told they…

And no way am I switching to dedicated hosting. I have no ads and make no money, I can't justify paying $70-100 a month in server costs for what amounts to a hobby.

Yeah, it was me. I'm having new issues, as the site load times have just been abysmal. They suggested I switch to their new 4G hosting, but there were quite a few hoops to jump through. Then they said I had to delete an MS Access DB on my hostin…

Google at War on Content Farms
I think that's a natural evolution of Google diversifying into other sectors like smartphones. If they'd just stayed a search engine, I imagine the scrutiny wouldn't be as intensive.

We've kind of derailed this entire thread, but the chemical weapons were confirmed by UN and international inspectors, not the US.

Gaddafi has had a nuclear program for a long time. He said they'd abandon it, but he changed his mind (big surprise). No inspectors have been in there for at least 5 years, so who knows what he has. Last time they were there, they confirmed the …

Well, the nuclear question is one reason why I doubt the US is going to do a whole lot other than wag a finger at Gaddafi. The Italian thing is interesting, as Berlusconi was one of Gaddafi's buddies (as was Sarcozy and Putin).

Libya is small potatoes compared to Saudi Arabia. Wait till they see these kinds of protests/revolts. 20% of the world's oil reserves! Just imagine what that will do to gas prices.

I should point out that I'm not sure I agree that MP3 blogs would qualify as fair use, it's just that some people that study law and/or have law degrees seem to think they might be.

WP Audio Player not working
Not showing up for me, either (I'm using Google Chrome). When I use the Inspect Element tool, it's definitely there, just invisible. I wonder if you've recently installed any other plugins which might be conflicting with the player?

No, not tongue in cheek in the slightest. I was genuinely interested in the answer. If I could write off any of my expenses associated with the blog, I would probably do so. I spend a lot of money on server costs, music, etc. that comes right out of …

@nullity As I understand it, the Napster decision would not necessarily apply to an MP3 blog. The pertinent paragraph from Chilling Effects would actually be this one: The language used by Congress in Title 17, Section 107 specifically lists critic…

Indeed we are, and even though some time ago I argued for a blog's right to have ads on this very message board, I hope to keep it that way indefinitely. That's a personal thing, and not a judgment on anyone who does have ads. Mark and I ha…
