Video: New order - Perfect kiss (10 minutes version)

De weekend classic komt deze week van new wave band New Order . New Order is de postmortale spinoff van Ian Curtis en het in cultkringen minstens net zo grote Joy Division, maar met een duidelijke eigen lijn. De songs van New Order zijn vrijwel allemaal synthesizer based en vallen op door de hoge melodielijn die bassist ( en als DJ mislukte ) Peter Hook vaak speelt en de lage partijen die juist weer voor rekening kwamen van de synths. Verder wisselden de artiesten onderling vaak van instrument! Perfect Kiss is een beetje raar nummer. [...]

Sometime during the summer of 1999 I was taking a drunken late night cab ride home through the streets of East Boston. Most of my memories of that are long forgotten but the one fact of that night that remains is that my cab driver was a huge New Order fan. He was at least fifteen years older than me and had a thick Boston accent. That I remember. What I don't recall is how the subject of New Order came about. Perhaps "Bizarre Love Triangle" was on the radio in the cab. [...]

We started yesterday with a look back at some of the sights and sounds of New Order . Growing up in the 80s, I didn't really embrace or appreciate the music of New Order until much later in my life. Perhaps the only songs that really stuck out to me by them were the songs that really made them who they were. Such as "Blue Monday", "Bizarre Love Triangle" and "The Perfect Kiss" . Some call them "The world's biggest indie band", but they're dead wrong: ain't nothing indie about Arctic Monkeys. At least not anymore. What the boys do have is probably the best rock'n'roll show in the world right now. And that's a pretty big asset.
