Tim Kasher , frontman for Cursive , is on tour pushing his EP, Bigamy: More Sons From The Monogamy Sessions . He's making a stop at The Jackpot tonight in Lawrence. Bigamy is a spinoff of his debut album, The Game Of Monogamy , which was released last year. Bigamy was written mostly during Kasher's tour for The Game Of Monogamy . It tells stories of "mixed emotions, heartbreak, and adulthood restlessness, the songs range sonically from the slow-burning opener 'No Harmony' to the syncopated pop of 'A Bluer [...]

Frontman for both Cursive and The Good Life, Tim Kasher, will be headlining the Hi-Tone Saturday night alongside Albany, New York's Aficionado and locals The Warm Atlantic. Kasher's out with his latest record, Bigamy: More Songs From The Monogamy Sessions , which is only available at the shows, his label Saddle Creek's web store, and digitally. Bigamy... was written during the same period his debut solo record, The Game Of Monogamy , was written. That record came out last October, but many of the sentiments are the same on the new release. Kasher's website [...]

“I shall remember this hour of peace: the strawberries, the bowl of milk, your faces in the dusk. Mikael asleep, Jof with his lute. I shall remember our words, and shall bear this memory between my hands as carefully as a bowl of fresh milk.” - The Seventh Seal by Ingmar Bergman I’ve been sitting here for nearly an hour trying to figure out how to articulate my feelings on this record, because believe you me, there’s a whole lot to go around. Half a pack of cigarettes gone and all I know is this: [...]

Rachel McGoye "Ghetto Gloss" EP Slick and melodic, the talented Rachel McGoye has a great voice for modern pop with a touch of country soul. Produced by Alex Band (The Calling) this is a nice showcase for Rachel, the sweet strum of guitar and shuffle of "Love Me Good" reminds me of Shania Twain a bit. So it makes sense she's been touring with Idol runner up and country star Kellie Pickler. Both "Love Seed" and "Oh My My" are good songs and seem destined to make it on a TV soundtrack. The talent [...]

DOWNLOAD : Tim Kasher - "Daytrotter Session" 11/3/10 (requires free registration) Kicking off his fall tour with a headlining show earlier this week at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles, CA, Tim Kasher continues on his massive national fall trek in support of his debut solo album, The Game Of Monogamy . The tour, which began in late September, runs through December 17th at The Rave (Downstairs) in Milwaukee, WI, and includes recently announced dates in El Paso, TX (11/15), Pittsburgh, PA (11/22), Washington, DC (11/23), and St. [...]

Although I have always considered The Good Life as Tim Kasher’s solo project, the recently released The Game Of Monogamy is actually Kasher’s first solo album. By now, his music has become a comfort sound for me—whether it is Cursive, The Good Life, or this solo record—his voice, style and lyrics have become very recognizable and familiar. In his solo debut, Kasher once again demonstrates his ability to write extremely entertaining songs/tell engaging stories. As usual, his dark and pessimistic lyrics are balanced off by wittiness and sarcasm. The Game Of Monogamy begins with a nice [...]

Tim Kasher makes three times a charm with two Cursive Daytrotter sessions in his repertoire, and now a solo recording marking that lucky streak. Featuring tracks off the month-old The Game of Monogamy , Kasher marches forth in the topical vein of the majority of his work - Cursive , The Good Life or otherwise - with an emphasis on the disasters of relationships. Sean Moeller's words accompanying the sessions were too eloquent to ignore when he speaks of Kasher's solo album and the distraught [...]

Longtime Cursive frontman ventures out on his own for the first time, delivering mostly stereotypical Saddle Creek fare in the process. The Game of Monogamy opens with an aural banana peel in the form of a very '90s Disney orchestral intro. The well-intended red herring builds for nearly two minutes before breaking into an incredibly strained, bleak vocal from Tim Kasher -- frontman of acclaimed emo acts Cursive and the Good Life -- a vocal that turns out to be the chorus. And an awfully grating one at that. The lyrical content mirrors this discomfort, as...

Photography by my boy The Real Aaron Dunn !!! FOLLOW HIM ON TWITTER ! How much of our lives are run by repetition? Daily? Weekly? Monthly? Yearly? Etc... We got through motions, so many times, we don't even have to think, we let our muscle memory run the show. I don't know how many times I've driven toward the direction of work only to actually take the roads toward work, even though I'm not going to work, because my brain is just doing what it [...]
Remember the movie "The War of the Roses?" In terms of true love gone south, it has a lot in common with the video for Tim Kasher's "Cold Love." The Cursive frontman's new album "The Game of Monogamy" came out this week, and the video, starring Kasher and Molly Parker ("Deadwood"), is at once dark, gross and hilarious. Well, depending on your capacity for gross-out humor. The album, Kasher's first solo disc after eight with Cursive and four as the Good Life , is out on Saddle Creek. ||| Live: [...]
