People spend so much time and energy disliking something because it's popular.

Following on (belatedly) from Eclectic Eavesdroppings Favourite Albums of the year, here are my Favourite Songs of 2011 . Compressing the musical year into a mere twenty-five songs is a tough task for a music junkie like myself. Listing the songs in order of preference is near impossible. But either way, I’ve done my best to get a list together and even though it’s incredibly subjective, it sums up a very good year in music. Elephants are the order of the day for Coldplay 's new video for 'Paradise'. It's just plain silly. Umm... Click here to view the embedded video.

Try as I might to really want to hate on Coldplay, which may have more to do with my distaste for Gwyneth Paltrow than it does for the band's music, the new single off the upcoming album, Mylo Xyloto (Oct. 24), sounds pretty good. They'll never be my favorite band, but Coldplay's alright in my book. Sometimes you need to eat spaghetti and meatballs, ya know?

See an elephant break free from a zoo and ride a unicycle to escape and be with his other elephant friends in Coldplay's visuals for "Paradise". Mylo Xyloto , Coldplay's fifth studio album, hits stores on October 24. You can listen to a stream of their third single "Princess of China" which features Rihanna after the jump.

The song is called 'Paradise' and it's a Coldplay song (off their new album Mylo Xyloto ), so starting off with shots from the plains of Africa isn't entirely unsurprising. The first few seconds of the video are fairly standard shots of an African countryside and then, without warning, we cut to a shot of guy in an elephant suit standing behind bars.
