December was supposed to be Ke$ha's big month. She was releasing a new album, critics were starting to see her as a serious artist, and "Die Young" was on the verge of becoming her third Billboard... Continue reading "Is "Die Young" Really the Most Controversial Hit Song Right Now?" >
There was no getting away from EDM in 2012. While the three-letter hashtag has certainly caused buzz among radio stations and indie blogosphere alike, it's been a big year for dance on and off of the pop charts. Regional styles like footwork, juke, and Jersey club went through genre-bending booms, electronic trap instrumentals filtered their way into the rap charts and warehouse clubs, dubstep visited Cuba and Taylor Swift, and house stalwarts kept right on chugging along. We revisited every nook and cranny of the year in dance music and pulled together our 30 favorite tracks. Read [...]

Swedish House Mafia @ Milton Keynes Bowl So the first thing one has to understand about festivals in the UK is that British Festivals = MUD. Even if it's sunny, there will still be some amount of residual rain water in the ground from the climate, and when enough people walk on it, that water makes its way to the surface. Milton Keynes is a small town about an hour north of London; it's called the bowl because they've made it so the stage is at the bottom of a hill that surrounds it for 180 degrees. So you can imagine [...]

This is the Swedish House Mafia saying goodbye to their fans. It looks like these guys put on an exciting live set when they do their thing. Not sure how or why three people spin at the same time, but they have the crowd going nuts. Molly must be there. SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA - DON'T YOU WORRY CHILD

If you know me at all, you had to know I would be posting this. Let this video serve as an ode to the group that changed my outlook on music. For the past 7 years they have provided the world with some of the biggest hits in music. An argument could be made for Swedish House Mafia being the single reason house/dance/electronic/trance etc. has become so big in the US again. They paved the way for artists we know today such as Avicii, Madeon, Alesso, and [...]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =1y6smkh6c-0 Get your handkerchiefs out, this might be the last Swedish House Mafia studio release ever. As you've probably heard, the trio decided to call it quits over the summer. Afterward, an onslaught of skepticism and reflection about the dance music world ensured. Despite what you may think of the trio and the commercialization of dance music, you have to respect the careers of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. Now, 'Don't You Worry Child' isn't exactly ' Leave The World Behind [...]
Well its been a great run for the three go-getters from Sweden. Starting out a friends going to shows and pestering djs, everyone has to admit they came a long way. Maybe their sound is not everyone's cup of tea, and the world is full of haters, but Swedish House Mafia put some Size into electronic music. From Masquerade Motel to Madison Square Garden, the guys did their own thing. They had their own events and didn't worry about who would book them and where. Even from an indie blog like ourselves we really appreciate the passion and dedication Angello, [...]

Happening one week before Beyond Wonderland invades the Bay Area, Nocturnal Wonderland promises to be a fully immersive experience, where you will be transported to another space and time, accompanied by the pounding beats of [...]
