This Wednesday, the night before Thanksgiving, Holy Ghost! take the stage at the 9:30 Club so that you can start off your holiday weekend dancing, and we've got your tix. I consider the Brooklyn electropop duo's self-titled debut full length, released last April via DFA , one of the best of the year. "Do It Again" was released digitally in anticipation of the album last winter, and "Wait and See" and "Hold My Breath" were subsequently released on 123 with accompanying videos. You might also know them from last year's excellent [...]

This video is old but Holy Ghost!'s DFA Records dance debut is as pertinent as ever in my house. Here, their dads get to have some fun at the band's expense. Dance around your kitchen - that's an order.

Popping Up is our recurring look at new artists making noise on the music landscape. Because, hey—Madonna and Britney were once unknown, too. For our latest Popping Up feature, we turn eyes and ears to New York City, hometown of Nick Millhiser (above left) and Alex Frankel — better known as electro-pop duo Holy Ghost! And, yes, there's a ! in their name! (See? It's addictive!!) The pair, signed to DFA Records, finally released their debut album last month after several years of dropping singles and taking up remixing chores for [...]

Holy Ghost! are an American electropop duo from New York City consisting of Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel. Holy Ghost! is the debut album by the band of the same name. It was released on 4 April 2011 on DFA Records. Millhiser and Frankel both grew up on the Upper West Side of New York City and attended elementary school together. They were later part of a hip-hop group called Automato. Automato's debut album was produced by James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy of The [...]

Upbeat electronic tracks are a breeze to remix, but there's only a handful of producers that can make something fresh out of what's already engaging. CFCF accomplishes that with a few repetitious tweaks that take some of the disco out of Holy Ghost!'s single, "Wait & See," and infuses it with the atmosphere of a rave. The track is off a remix EP out today, which also features the work of Moby, Flight Facilities, Richard X and Kris Menace. Also, Holy Ghost!'s dads made [...]

Montreal producer CFCF re-works the new single from Holy Ghost! , taken from a digital-only remix package that drops today on DFA . Download his smoothed-out, Balearic-leaning reinterpretation of " Wait & See ," and check the video for the original - starring Holy Ghost!'s dads as Holy Ghost! - below: Holy Ghost! :: Wait & See (CFCF remix) mp3: Holy Ghost! :: Wait & See (CFCF remix) ___________

Video Credits: DFA Records on vimeo.com
This funky little jam is fantastically retro, undeniably catchy, and the video is awesome. Holy Ghost! uses their own fathers to play the band members, it's pretty hilarious. If you like this track, you will no doubt love the rest of the self-titled debut album which was released last month via DFA. Don't stop til you get enough... Holy Ghost! (DFA, April 2011)
New York duo signed to James Murphy's DFA label use 21st century genre-bending innovations to make music firmly rooted in the past. As difficult as it might be to imagine in the second decade of the 21st century, rock and dance didn't always get along as well as they do now. Disco as a genre only gained much of its critical respect in the rearview, whether it was as early as Michael Jackson's immediate legitimizing of the waning form with Off the Wall in 1979 or in the parallel reassessments of its considerable artistic and cultural contributions...
Click here to view the embedded video. Released last week ‘Wait & See’ is the latest single to be taken from Holy Ghost! ’s eponymous debut album. Designed to make fun of the band getting older but still living like teenagers, Brooklyn duo Alex Frankel and Nick Millhiser convinced their dads to play their parts in this brand new, Ben Fries directed video. So while swooning vocals twist around infectious, slick pop beats the two men have band practice, go out drinking, skateboarding and wake up hung-over still in their [...]

New video from the LOVE LISTED and self-titled Holy Ghost! album that dropped on DFA Recs recently. I can only speculate as to what this video means, but here it goes: Maybe this is basically a portrait of the two dudes in Holy Ghost!, doing what they do in their everyday lives, but the men featured in this video are actually of the age Holy Ghost! would be if they had actually grown up in the era of music that inspires them so. Or they could have just been all like, "Hey, let's put our dads [...]

Finally, there's a new video for Holy Ghost 's " Wait & See ". This unbelievably catchy electro-pop tune just gets better with time. What better than for Holy Ghost to tape their everyday lives in N.Y.C. I love the gritty footage and recording sessions. Make sure to pick up their self-titled album that came out earlier this month! Enjoy your Saturday with this dance track!
