The lineup has been announced for this year’s 2nd Street Festival , which will take place on Sunday, July 31st, in Northern Liberties. The free outdoor festival is presented in partnership with the Philadelphia Folksong Society, and will take place from noon-10 p.m. across four stages (one at the Piazza, and three where 2nd Street intersects with Poplar, George, and Fairmount). Yours Truly always produced some of the best live clips on the Internet, and this shoot with Tune-Yards in Oakland was no exception. It starts with Merrill Garbus talking about how she constructs her songs—which she calls "puzzle pieces"—before she performs a wonderfully percussion heavy version of "Gangsta" from w h o k i l l. It's easy to see how Garbus has taken the songs from that record and really transformed them in this performance, with the energy of the track leaping off the screen and her talent for working with loops proving to be evermore impressive.
