Whilst watching this please show tolerance and respect to Neon Music and resist the urge to jump through the screen and stab him multiple times because Blood Orange is awesome and this documentary is very nonformative and if you can get past the horrendousness of Neon Music's interview technique, yes we know its a parody, and Slutevers inane slobbering it's worth a watch but that doesn't make it cool or clever or funny. Great music as always from Blood Orange but Basquiat already happened yeah?

Sounding like an alt-soul version of Chairlift playing late Roxy Music songs, Blood Orange 's musical recipe sure has a lot of potential. By the way it must be specified that this is the solo project of a guy (in case the Chairlift reference confused you about his sex) called Dev Hynes, also known as Lightspeed Champion , and that his debut 7" is on Terrible Records , a buzzworthy NYC label run by Grizzly Bears' Chris Bear, which also launched the band that landed on our latest cover - Twin Shadow. Dev enjoyed international recognition with [...]

Dev Hynes is one of those artists that always intrigued me. I suppose a lot of it has to do with how hard he is to squeeze into a box. The early noise-pop of Test Icicles, the genre-bending, often Morrissey-indebted array of music released as Lightspeed Champion, or the work behind the scenes for the likes of Florence and the Machine and Theophilus London. Not to mention the wardrobe choices. There's always been a certain combination of emotional resonance and tongue-in-cheek humor to it all, which is part of what makes his art so endearing. The transformation from wig-wearing, hipster [...]

The first official release from Blood Orange , aka Dev Hynes (who also records as Lightspeed Champion), was the "Dinner" 73 (grab it here ) release on Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor Terrible Records. Now Blood Orange has announced that he will release his debut album "Coastal Grooves" on August 8th via Domino Records. You can now enjoy the first taste from the album, the track "Sutphin Boulevard", below: Blood Orange: "Sutphin Boulevard" [ mp3 ] Two 123s of [...]

This new track from Dev Hynes' latest project, Blood Orange, is currently arresting my attention in some kind of hypnotic grip. Following on from the previously unveiled "Dinner", "Sutphin Boulevard" occupies some kind of hazy and seedy space, a lacing of sexuality that permeates through the track is hard to deny. It's utterly addictive, a good feat seeing as it acts as a sampler for his newly announced upcoming album, Coastal Grooves , out August 8th, on Domino. By distancing himself from the twee melancholy of Lightspeed Champion (although admittedly of darker tone on 20102s Life is Sweet! [...]
He's a sucka for kick a** monikers. Mostly known for his work under Lightspeed Champion or perhaps birth name Devonté Hynes - where he wrote and produced on Theophilus London 's Lover's Holiday EP, - our British quirky friend releases the visuals to the first single under Blood Orange, titled "Dinner." The video is nothing less than greatness, supporting the track's 80s' felt synths with jean jackets, fly hairstyles and basketball. The video was directed by Alan Del Rio Ortiz, and the track was recorded and produced by [...]

We dropped this track a couple weeks back but now Devonte Hynes' new project Blood Orange has released the video for "Dinner". This track is fucking smooth. Dev and Theophilus are bringing a whole new twist to the indie hip hop circuit. Peep the Jumpman earrings on Dev. Wish my boy Barabas was still around to see those things. I'd rock those with a Little Richard t-shirt and that Blood Orange denim jacket. Now that's style.

One look at that Jumpman logo earring and we knew we would be down with this video. Blood Orange 's "Dinner" makes a strong bid for your favorite summer song. Download audio file (download) DOWNLOAD: Blood Orange - Dinner
Blood Orange - Dinner This is tha jam. So happy to see Devonté’s focus going into this project. christophebasterra : Oui.
