Turn down the lights, fire up the projector and light a candle if that's your style...here's my picks for the Top 15 Music Videos Of 2011. I tried to encompass a lot of image styles and music in this list. There's all types of directors and production scales ranging from Canon 7D equipped bare bones budgets to freaking Michel Gondry shooting stop motion on a Bolex (or so I read). I think that's what's crazy and great about being a director and designer in this time. If you want to, you have access to pretty much everything (visually speaking) if [...]

Click here to view the embedded video. Thanks to the guys over at The Fox Is Black I discovered the, colorful, campy, and 702s horror inspired video for Toro Y Moi's 'How I Know'. Complete with a black light inspired color palette, cheesy special effects and high caliber acting performances it is a playful take on cult horror and really reminds me of a Scooby Doo episode, so clearly I love it. "How I Know" out of Toro y Moi's "Underneath The Pines". And the video to it is pretty funny in a spooky kind of way. Girl Ghost Power hell yeah! Three young guys enter a haunted house, but the girl ghosts are not kidding. Death by a bubble gum, by electrocution while eating spaghetti and [...]

Lady ghosts chasing boys! In a haunted house! But it’s silly, not scary! So goes the new Jordan Kim-directed video for “How I Know,” a track from Toro Y Moi ’s February album Underneath the Pine . Toro’s fall tour will stop in Philly for a show at the First Unitarian Church on September 12th. Tickets cost $14 and are available here . Check out the video for [...]

The new Toro Y Moi video for "How I Know" takes place in a haunted house that's occupied by two cute but not-so-friendly ghosts who aren't too keen on corporeal company. The ghost twins wreak havoc when a trio of helpless boys step foot into their haunted abode. But don't you worry, its Addams Family -esque vibe and kitschy cuteness make the video the least terrifying, even for the faint of heart. On top of that, Toro's chillwavy track makes it easy on the ears and consequently (?) easy to get over the fact that Bebe Zeva [...]
In the new video for Toro y Moi's Underneath The Pine cut "How I Know," three friends explore a haunted house late at night. Over the course of the next three minutes, they all die spectacular deaths. One suffocates on bubble gum, one gets electrocuted by spaghetti, and one of the guys actually ends up getting decapitated by a loose DVD. By the end, they're all ghosts, and a ghostly dance party ensues. A chillwaver's play on the witch house phenomenon, perhaps? Underneath The Pine is out now on Carpark Records . Buy it [...]
Toro Y Moi 's most recent album, Underneath the Pine , is still in heavy rotation for most fans; or at least it should be! Now, he brings us visuals to the track "How I Know" which was directed by Jordan Kim. The track is upbeat but the video gets slightly creeptastic at certain points. But, in the end, its all just good fun. Enjoy. Click here to view the embedded video.
