I recently got into a great duo that had slipped my radar over the past year. High Places , originally from Brooklyn , now based out of L.A. has really mastered a phenomenal space pop sound with perfect dosages of future dub and garagie basslines layered throughout most of their tracks. I first was introduced to High Places through " All the Days Blur Together ," a single that they got together with David Scott Stone (LCD Soundsystem) and released close to a year ago. [...]

High Places channels the spirit of school bus sing-a-longs, back country camping trips, and first prize science fair projects, while conjuring dreams of faraway places through the use of field recordings, contact mics on houshold items, wind instruments and electronic thingamabobs. Demo (2006) Try [...]

The Pull Year Off L.A. (transplanted from Brooklyn) electronic experimentalist duo High Places are releasing their third proper LP, Original Colors , on October 11 from Thrill Jockey Records ( [...]

High Places ' new video features shots of ant colonies crawling around, translucent people and the trippiest pool party ever to accompany their soaring electronic sounds of single "Altos Lugares." Literall the Spanish translation of the band name, "Altos Lugares" is a droning electronic beat with disembodied voices looping over and over again. It's repetitive but always changing, pulling the listener into a sort of trance. The single comes off their upcoming album Original Colors out October 11 on Thrill Jockey. The release will include a bonus CD with two extended album songs and an exclusive track. They'll be busy [...]
nuovo album per gli High Places: si intitola Original Colors ed uscirà per #Thrill Jockey il prossimo 11 Ottobre - qui sopra il video della traccia Altos Lugares , realizzato dalla band stessa.
"Altos Lugares", which actually means High Places in Spanish, is Rob Barber and Mary Pearson's new video. They are running around a desert in a ghost-like form. It was shot "at dawn in Spahn Ranch, the one-time home base for Charles Manson and the Family” and it certainly feels kind of spooky, but -at the same time- sweet.

The L.A.-via-NY hazy new-wave duo High Places have a new album called Original Colors coming out; check out new song " Year Off ." In the video for "Altos Lugares," another new one, the group, in ghostlike form, amble across a desert landscape. I have no idea how they can afford to become transparent in a video, but I have no idea how Das Racist can afford morphing either. I guess special effects are just cheaper now. High Places direct themselves. Watch below. Read More...

"Year Off" fue el primer avance que escuchamos de este nuevo album de High Places titulado "Original Colors" y ahora, ya podemos ver el video del segundo sencillo oficial de este material fechado para el 11 de Octubre a traves de Thrill Jockey . La fotografia de este video de "Altos Lugares" va muy de la mano con la ritmica new age que sale del synth pop ochentero que crean los dos integrantes en cada uno de sus tracks asi que sin mas por ahora, vean este nuevo video de High Places y a ver que les parece. [...]
Do not adjust your computers: High Places' video for "Altos Lugares" is all slow-mo video effects where the group disappears and reappears at random, and your Internet speed is probably just fine. But the thing you should adjust is your expectations for High Places' new album Original Colors: High Places are going full-on Knife here, making icy synths sound like collapsing icebergs. But of course the obvious Knife influence only goes so far as Mary Pierson's chilled-out vocals. But High Places are cleary ramping up the electronica and dance beats, and that's for the better.
