Nashville's the kind of town where infamous events are kinda' commonplace. Stuff of legend happens on the regular and it's often pretty bizarre. Ryan Adams throws out a drunken heckler for demanding he play “Summer of '69” (not cool, bro), John Mayer makes a tearful apology to his bandmates at Bridgestone Arena for his racist(?) remarks in an ill-advised Playboy interview (really not cool, bro), Shaun White trashes a hotel room (wait, you're not a rockstar). And in 2007, sweet Regina Spektor collapsed from vertigo resulting from the mother of all ear [...]

Do you know what these five songs have in common -- besides the state of being awesome? (Answer below, after the videos...) "All the Rowboats" Regina Spektor "Vulture" She Keeps Bees "Pulse" I Break Horses "Apparitions" The Raveonettes "These Tears (Est8 Piano Mix)" Spiritchaser [...]
Her latest release highlights both her quirkiness and adept nature to do what she does best: make beautiful music. If there are two sides to Regina Spektor, you can classify this album as "Regina Classic". That's not necessarily to classify the other side of her music as "Regina Lite" or "Diet Regina", but there is certainly more character in the classic flavor -- despite how incredibly talented she's proved to be on every one of her recordings. When we were first introduced to Ms. Spektor, she was hitting a drum stick on a wooden...
Regina Spektor - First new studio album in three years from the Brooklyn-based, ivory-tickling performing songwriter is also a reunion of sorts with Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Eminem) who co-produced four songs on Spektor's 2009 album Far ...most songs were cut with just Spektor on vocals and piano and then she and Elizondo added in layers of additional instrumentation with the goal of making each song stand alone in both style and sound // Release : What We Saw From the Cheap Seats (May 29, Warner Brothers) // Sounds like : Spektor [...]
A veteran of New York's anti-folk scene, songwriter Regina Spektor makes quirky, highly eclectic, but always personal music. Born and raised in Moscow until age nine, Spektor listened to her father's bootleg tapes of Western pop and rock as a young child and also learned to play piano. She and her family moved from Russia to the Bronx, where she was immersed in American culture (at the time, hers was the first Russian family in the borough in 20 years). Eventually, Spektor and her family became part of a community that balanced her Russian [...]

I, like the majority of America, fell in love with singer/songwriter Regina Spektor after hearing "Fidelity," from her 2006 album Begin To Hope. I'm not sure if it was the song's appearance on a popular TV show like Grey's Anatomy, or perhaps in a commercial but as soon as it played for the first time, I couldn't get enough. Spektor's voice, while not all that powerful, is

What We Saw from the Cheap Seats is the sixth studio album by Russian–American alternative singer-songwriter Regina Spektor . In November, Spektor posted on her facebook page that the album - is a collection of old and new material - had been recorded with Mike Elizondo in Los Angeles during the summer of 2011 and that it is expected to be released on May 29, 2012. The album's first single, "All the Rowboats", was released for streaming on February 27, 2012, and for digital download the following day. Check out the video which could easily double as [...]
Regina Spektor's "All The Rowboats," off upcoming album What We Saw From The Cheap Seats (out May 29 via Sire/Warner Bros.), is full of drama and suspense. The song's video for was directed by Adria Petty and Peter Sluszka, and it features Spektor confined in a space that leaves her feeling trapped and helpless. Watch "All The [...]

Nejen její magická hudba, ale i její oči a zpívající ústa uhranuly nejednoho posluchače a diváka prostřednictvím jejích hravých videoklipů. Nebudeme si nic namlouvat. Regina Spektor je překrásná žena a kamera ji miluje. Pojďme si chronologicky představit její videoklipovou tvorbu. Na konci seznamu najdete její nové video k písni "All The Rowboats" z desky What We Saw from the Cheap Seats, která vyjde 29. května. 2006 > album Soviet Kisch "Us" "Fidelity" [...]
Simian Mobile Disco's video for "Cerulean" is a six minute feast for your eyeballs when they didn't even know they were hungry. I've left my acid and 3-D glasses in my other coat, so I'm probably not getting the full effect, but it's pretty damn beautiful to watch those shapes and colors move. And on [...]
The story of Regina Spektor's rise to pop stardom is something that you might find as the plot to a Disney movie. The quirky piano-pop queen was born and raised in Moscow, learning about Western rock and pop music from her father's bootleg cassette tapes, while becoming quite adept at playing the piano. At the age of nine, Spektor's family emigrated to the United States, during Russia's period of Perestroika, landing in the Bronx. Without access to a piano of their own right away, Spektor practiced anywhere she could, which included playing a piano in the [...]

Have you ever gone to a museum and wondered what the paintings would be like if they came to life? Regina Spektor has and lays out her vision of such an event in the video for her single, "All The Rowboats." The single comes off her upcoming sixth LP, What We Saw From The Cheap Seats . It has all the ingredients we have come to expect from the Russian-American musician: catchy lyrics, bright vocals, brooding piano and the occasional irreverent "la-da-da." The video uses stop-motion, chiaroscuro lighting and light sticks to make some pretty [...]

This is Regina Spector ’s video for her recent single, “All the Rowboats”. We see the gorgeous songstress sink into a nightmare of claustrophobic ropes and disjointed animation. Courtesy of the director of B’s “Countdown video”, Adria Petty obviously has a thing for strong female leads. Tom Petty’s daughter is quite the talented one. Regina’s new record, What We Saw From the Cheap Seats , will be out 5/29 through Sire .

It looks like Sire/Warner Bros. Records is going to do a hard push on the new Regina Spektor album What We Saw From The Cheap Seats . The new video is not only directed by Tom Petty's daughter Adria but it appears that they're also trying to give Spektor a new look and add some sex appeal (as if it wasn't already there) by smoothing out her curly locks and adding some smokey eye make-up. The song is still great but it might take some time to get used to this new look and model shoot type [...]

Regina Spektor sometimes falls into the category of guilty pleasure. Her quirky, lighthearted brand of pop is a lot more interesting than most of the really popular, terribly straightforward pop hits that flood the radio, but Regina also often ventures into territory that can only be described as "cute." For her latest single, "All The Rowboats," Regina gets a little dark, and there's no reason to feel guilty about for liking this one. Watch the video below. Regina's What We Saw From The Cheap Seats will be out on May 29th.
Regina Spektor's new video for her very good new single " All The Rowboats " plunges her into a blurry aquatic dream-reality full of stop-motion animation and prismatic light effects. Adria Petty directs, which is notable because (1) she's Tom Petty's daughter and (2) she did Beyoncé's amazing " Countdown " video. Watch it below. Read More...
