Feist is a pretty woman with a pretty voice. Her new album The Reminder is just as pretty, and it's pretty neato that she has it streaming for all of us in the US that have to wait until May 1st for it to hit stores. Do yourself a favor and stream this eargasmic music before it's whittled down to just a few songs that people will add to their Myspace profiles. If you don't, your ears will fall off.
I know we've been updating you quite a bit about this new Queens Of The Stone Age album, but there's a reason for that: They keep giving all of us some really kick ass teasers! When I woke up this morning, The Bulby Video (f. Sick Sick Sick) was in my box. It's a pretty decent clip of this track, plus you get to meet an angry lightbulb who plays the host. Sure it's shameless marketing much like the NIN propaganda that was splashed around the web, but at least this has some humor [...]
I've said it once and I'll say it again... Thom Yorke is f**kin' crazy! But we all love him. And now we love him much more, because on recent post on Radiohead's blog , Thom talks about the recent efforts by the UK's 'Friends of the Earth' to cut carbon dioxide emissions. Thom also happens to make some references to the new record Radiohead has been working on. Could they be close to completion? I think so. See if you can decipher the message: Friends [...]
For all of you waiting for details in regards to Smashing Pumpkins and their new album Zeitgeist , you need not wait any longer. Reprise Records will be releasing the album on July 7th. Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin are producing the album and no appearances by James Iha will be made. It is still uncertain as to whether or not D'arcy Wretzky will make it to the reunion, but as long as Corgan is around with the name Smashing Pumpkins attached, it's guaranteed to [...]

Put all those 'Paul from The Wonder Years' rumors aside, Marliyn Manson is back in true rock star fashion. His new release from Interscope, called Eat Me, Drink Me (I'm guessing he's referring to himself as Mr. Christ by the title of it) is set to hit stores June 5th. He's embarking on a Euro-tour to kick off the summer, but you can be sure Marilyn will be terrorizing church-goers and right-wingers all across the United States very soon. get inside the mind of Mr. Manson on the 'Art' section of his new website , [...]

I don't know about you, but this was an extra long week for me. What a better way to kick off my Friday night happy hour then with the new Feist video from their first single "1234" from their fourthcoming record, The Reminder . Before you completely unwind with this one, take a note that this colorful dance party (directed by Patrick Daughters) was shot in one continuous take. You gotta love that. And not only does her voice/music have an incredible modern meets vintage sound, but she is totally bringing [...]
How long does it take to get your record label to pay the royalties they owe you? Only half of the Beatles members lived long enough to talk about it. It looks like their wait might be over... for the time being. According to Billboard.com , The Beatles (a.k.a. 'Apple Corps') have finally come to an aggreement over a $59.2 million royalty battle with EMI and Capitol Records . This time it was involving a December 2005 case [...]
So SXSW came to an end a little while ago, but you know that there is always a bit of a lag when it comes to uploading show media. Chalk it up to exhaustian, a 3 week hangover or the editors just now remembering where their lost cameras were, but videos from 4 of the hottest shows out there have finally surfaced. Kick back for a bit and get a taste of what went on. Peter Bjorn And John @ The Bat Bar - Austin, TX - 3/16/07 Young Folks [...]

Last week I wrote a feature on a UK electro band called The Badical and I asked for your opinion on whether or not you were digging them. Because of your overwhelmingly positive response, I'm going to add two songs to download as promised. Thanks for all the comments. It's always nice to hear from readers. Enjoy! The Badical - "Lobster" - MP3 The Badical - "Ardo Bardo" - MP3
I just stumbled across this fun little psych-rock record from Deerhunter called Cryptograms from Kranky Records . Good music, badical band. Deerhunter could be one of the finest acts ever to come out of Atlanta, Georgia (aside from Dirty South originators Outkast and Goodie Mob of course). You can check these guys out live on their US tour supporting of indie rockers The Ponys from Chicago. Here is the equally psychedelic video for their single, "Strange Lights".
This five-piece from Atlanta aims to "fuse lulling hypnotic states induced by ambient and minimalist music with the klang and propulsion of garage rock". This is the first single off of their new album 'Cryptograms'. » original link
Deerhunter 's Cryptograms (out Jan. 29 on Kranky ) is a classic "study in duality," due mostly to the fact that it's divided into two distinctly opposing parts. The record's first half is notably more experimental, droning, and less focused, the product of some turmoil that the band was experiencing at the time, including the death of a band member. The best song on the album, "Spring Hall Convert" marks the beginning of the album's stellar second half, which the band calls "... a set of focused psych-pop songs fixating [...]
Another great new band from Atlanta...DEERHUNTER's new LP 'Cryptograms' will be released on Kranky on January 29. I'm really into the title track and I love that they so forthrightly admit their influence...THE JESUS & MARY CHAIN, who are probably my favorite band ever...well, that's a big statement, but still... Deerhunter website Deerhunter on MySpace Here's the video for 'Strange Lights" from the new album:
I've been putting off writing about Atlanta's Deerhunter for over a week, because their sound is really elusive when you try to put a pin in it. They've been touring around Europe with ex-Brooklynites Liars and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but they don't sound a lick like either of those bands. A recent Pitchfork blurb identified their prime predecessor as the Jesus and Mary Chain, but there's not so much push and pull between sweet pop and brutal noise, more like the pop swallowed the noise and you can still here it somewhere in the pop's belly. My [...]
