Mayer Hawthorne was on Twitter yesterday talking about Daniel Johnston, a very talented musician who was just as mentally ill as he was musically inclined. I saw the 2005 bio-flick "The Devil and Daniel Johnston" a few years ago and was immediately captivated. I guess Hawthrone shares the captivation, as he has covered Johnston's "I Held The Hand" and let it go for the Internets to enjoy. Tomorrow evening, 8pm at 5011 West Adams St in Los Angeles, FMLY and McWorld will present a free screening of The Devil And Daniel Johnston with a live set from our pal Presstones. The legendary lo-fi outsider artist and songwriter Daniel Johnston returns to Ireland after his debut Irish performance at a sell-out show in Vicar Street in 2007.
