Dungen @ Harpers Ferry - Wednesday They may not sing any of their songs in English but it doesn't mean you can't understand what these Swedish psych-rockers are laying down for your listening pleasure. For those looking to take a trip back to the psych-rock days of the late 602s and early 702s, your wishes [...]
Special bonus flackbash coverage today, because I've got a lot to say. This un goes out to the Spoon/Deerhunter/Micachu & The Shapes show at the Fox last week. Big props to Spoon for not only being awesome, but for bringing along two very creative bands. So creative, in fact, that they appeared to completely confound a lot of the audience. I heard two ushers openly slag on Micachu to patrons. Dude and lady, there's a difference between music you don't like and music that's bad. Grow up. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say [...]
Thanks to Lauren for yet another great announcement! Deerhunter will play Whelan's on Wexford Street next March, the 7th. When i read it first, I thought it was the 17th, so Paddy's Night is still free for some great band to blow off my ears. Tickets are €14 and will be on sale soon. Watch 'Strange Lights':
Ok, to start off, I have two corrections to make. First, in the post " Atlanta Album Preview: Nomen Novum " I had listed what I believed to be a possible tracklisting to Nomen Novum 's upcoming debut album, November , but I in fact gave you the possible tracklist Nomen Novum 's second album comprised of songs they are performing live already. The tracklist for November looks like this: intro / new coke permanent makeup I collect things/pow-pow little witches don't look up my face her body [...]
![Name Fight! Deerhunter vs. The Dear Hunter! [Two Bands Enter, One Band Leaves]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1247049_lg.jpg)
Yesterday, while I was listening to a stack of singles that I've been ignoring for awhile, I came across a track from Boston act The Dear Hunter . While the song wasn't bad, the entire time it was playing all I could think about was how at some point, there's going to be a conversation when I'm forced to distinguish between The Dear Hunter and Atlanta act Deerhunter . The similarity in names is too much for my brain—and, I suspect, the brains of other people out there—to handle, so one of the acts is going [...]
I think that question has been answered. On Saturday Bradford Cox (brain child behind Deerhunter and Atlas Sound) posted a link to download Virtual 7" No. 4 , (as he normally offers us free lovely little musical experiments etc...) not aware of the fact that anyone could access his unlocked Mediafire account from that link. WOOOPS!!!! A deerhunterhteband.blogspot.com reader (we are, but it wasn't us!) found Brad's Deerhunter unmastered Weird Era Cont. (intended to be a surprise bonus to stir up the fans due to Microcastle leaking [...]
Atlanta's Deerhunter are set to release Microcastle , the follow-up to 2006's Cryptograms on October 28th. Microcastle will be released simultaneously on CD and LP via Kranky in North America and 4AD for the rest of the world. Microcastle was recorded over the course of a week at Rare Book Studios in Brooklyn, New York with Nicolas Verhes. The album was recorded as a four-piece consisting of Bradford Cox, Lockett Pundt, Joshua Fauver, and Moses Archuleta. "Saved by Old Times" features a vocal collage by Cole Alexander of the Black Lips. The album [...]
'Cryptograms' é um álbum que já há bastante tempo deveria ter cido aqui citado. Utilizando a velha máxima, "mais vale tarde que nunca", fica aqui uma pequena referência sobre a minha opinião deste primeiro trabalho do quinteto norte-americano Deerhunter, o qual é positivo, tal como aqui já deixava antever. Sendo 'Cryptograms' um álbum que não "entra" logo à primeira, tirando algumas faixas
Opening band: Deerhunter Battles | Photo Gallery Damn, wasn't this show like 2 months ago? No sense doing a full write-up now. Never mind my poor-ass writing... you'll be better off just checking out the photos. Hell, might as well throw in a few videos and an mp3 (see below). Full review to appear on Junkmedia.org . Deerhunter | Photo Gallery Video: Battles [...]
I've been to many of these once-a-month "Let's Independent" shows at Boardner ' s in Hollywood, but tonight's event is more special than ever. Joe from Radio Free Silver Lake is celebrating his one year anniversary of the "Let's Independent" night. This month, all three bands have a new release as they converge at beautiful Boardner's bar and restaurant on the west side. The show free fifty-free. I've only seen [...]
Die Klangschau freut sich einen wunderbaren Klangschau Abend im St.Galler Palace präsentieren zu dürfen.
Deerhunter's aptly titled Kranky debut Cryptograms earns its name moving from murky swamps of feedback and delay into shimmering swirls of crystalline hooks.
Afiyet olsun. *farkındaysanız formumdayım. adam gibi cümle bile kuramıyorum.
I've had the Cryptograms cd for what seems like a few weeks now and the fact that i haven't reserved the time to actually sit down and really listen to this record is still kind o f blowing me away. It's regrettably now -- the night a f ter their first Chicago [...]
Punk rock blew up in the late 70s and early 80s with the Sex Pistols, the Clash, the Ramones, the Stilts, and about 30 other bands that unconformed through conformity and were established by their anti-establishment ideals. Raw music coupled with a DIY ethic and a ripped, torn, and mucusy aesthetic spawned legions of dark-eyed, died-haired followers. Not coincidentally, stock in Elmer's Glue soared for three years and a bunch of old grey-haired men on the Elmer's Board of Directors filled their suitcases with gold bricks. These bands and their seedy entourages spawned in the streets of [...]
P-folk's gave the album by Deerhunter "Cryptograms" a 'best new music' stamp of approval. They like 'em as much as we like 'em. The album drops on Feb. 6th. Here's what P-folk said about this album: Atlanta five-piece Deerhunter, who hailed Cooper as a primary influence in a recent Dusted feature, show their guts admirably on this vast, visceral second album. Arranged in chronological sequence from two distinct recording sessions, Cryptograms is alternately murky and ethereal, amorphous and incisive, shot through with Sonic Youth guitar squall, Spacemen 3's [...]
Deerhunter 's new ambient-psych-rock-something-l ike-that album Cryptograms is out this week. I like it a lot. Prefix and Cokemachineglow describe how it sounds, and the drama involved in making it. I'll just say that Deerhunter have songs streaming at their MySpace , and you could probably imagine them fitting right in to a Grizzly Bear / Papercuts / Beach House show. Deerhunter fit in to that lineup so well in fact that they ARE playing with Grizzly Bear and Papercuts when that [...]
