Son Raw is in love with a Goth girl. In which XXXY synthesizes both the zeitgeist of Bass music's thousand plateaus and the history of his home town. After all, is there anything more Mancunian than spontaneously igniting a bouquet of decaying flowers to a sadly emotive yet somehow still euphoric House track called "I know this can't be love?" Somewhere, the ghosts of Ian Curtis and Tony Wilson are smiling.

Whether you're a fan of dance music or not (and in either case you should probably read our introduction to the different genres ), this new tune from xxxy's upcoming Everything EP is perfect for your weekend. With a judiciously placed chipmunk vocal (apparently a Cassie sample) and big synth washes accompanying the housey beat, this track is good for the rave or the headphones. The simple time-lapse video of flowers decomposing and then burning is highly satisfying and mildly addictive, so even if you don't have the hook of "This can't be love" ingrained [...]

Taken from his forthcoming Everything EP , which drops on April 16th courtesy of Well Rounded, 'I Know This (Can't Be Love)' is the latest offering from Manchester's xxxy. Surfacing on Soundcloud earlier today, it was accompanied by a video featuring a bouquet of slowly wilting roses which eventually explode into flames. I know roses are perfectly suited to convey the powerful metaphor of fading love and the breakdown of a relationship, but I would have just microwaved a tin of beans until it burst. Prévu pour le 16 avril, je vous avais déjà parlé de l'EP « Everything » de XXXY , il fait parti des futures sorties que j'attends le plus avec ce mélange House totalement efficace. Aujourd'hui c'est le clip de « I Know This Can't Be Love » qui vient de sortir, rien de révolutionnaire mais le buzz autour de Well Rounded Records a l'air d'avoir fonctionné.
