The XX have officially become a trio since the departure of their keyboardist/guitarist, Baria Qureshi (pictured second from the left). The band cancelled a number of gigs recently due to Baria's illness and exhaustion. Baria has now decided to leave the band for good and there are no current plans to replace her. Oliver Sims says "It's just been a case of, I suppose growing apart. It's a big jump from 13-years-old to 20. I think we've just grown into different people and I don't believe touring was for her, really." (via The Stool Pidgeon). [...]

Combine four 20 year olds from South West London, some sublime tunes, moody guitars, an ethereal vocal duet and a kid's Casio keyboard and you've got hotter than Hades British quartet, The XX. Pedestrian caught up with lead singer Romy Madley Croft and found out about their hectic touring schedule, befriending Florence and the Machine, singing covers and becoming unexpected fashion symbols. Ambient remixes have disappeared. Mainly, due to the timeliness of the genre and its disregard by the dance community.
