Dele já muito se falou e escreveu; lunático, visionário, criativo, imaginativo, excêntrico e outros adjectivos que tais. Quer se goste ou não, Syd Barrett e os Floyd marcaram a música contemporânea de uma forma muito significativa, criando e recriando mundos alternativos, visualmente e auditivamente dementes, doentes e simultaneamente belos e horríveis.
