Marissa Nadler's Mexican Summer video seem to all own the characterization of a moving painting, with so many moments just waiting to be frozen on the canvas. This video is actually just another work in a string of well made videos that have accompanied her work through the last few years. In that way her video clips are pieces of art by themselves. We like Marissa Nadler's tendency to put other ladies in her videos. Very Warholian. If the look and feel of "Mexican Summer" remind you of the duskier "Bird On Your Grave" vid that's because this languid, sun-downing love story was also directed by the Portuguese artist Joana Linda. She's not the star this time, though: It's Ana Moreira who weeps over a lollipop, an empty swing, and a lonesome horse, but mostly sits in front of a window dreaming Carloto Cotta's face a million times.
