Suggested NYC Concerts The Best Indie Shows Hand-picked Each Week Photo credit: Shervin It's already Hanukkah and nearly time for Christmas, which means holiday parties and time off from school and work in the very near future. In some cities, I'd imagine that this could be a slower time of year for music. Not as many bands are on tour so you don't get the big names, right? Well, this is New York City so that doesn't [...]

of Montreal , the American rock band whose music ranges from psychedelic pop to electronic funk, is on tour in support of their latest releases Paralytic Stalks and Daughter of Cloud . They will be performing at the 9:30 Club this Friday, and we’re giving away tickets. Founded by Kevin Barnes in 1996, of Montreal’s style combines musical experimentation with pop. Their sound has continued to evolve from the upbeat twee pop of their 1997 debut Cherry Peel to 20072s well-received Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? to [...]

So we typically toss a video onto a post when highlighting a new band or a show preview or something and let you draw your own conclusion about it. Sometimes we throw a change-up... strike that - let’s call it a round up. Most of these videos are of bands we have previously talked about here on Draw Us Lines, so we won’t be telling you much about those bands themselves, just some musings that really aren’t worth a damn. If a picture is worth 1000 words, then a video must be worth a million. Hold on to your hats! [...]
In Canadian filmmaker Jesse Ewles , pop contortionists Of Montreal found someone with the mad visual skills to match their musical spirit. The video for "Spiteful Intervention," off the band's recent album "Paralytic Stalks," is a painting in motion — a giant eye, Kevin Barnes' face, blobs of color pulsing — all in arresting and rather disturbing fashion. Ewles talks about his work in an interview with The Creators Project here . The animations themselves are liable to cause nightmares.

By Jonathan Hatchman Having released their eleventh album, Paralytic Stalks, back in February, the Georgian rock outfit Of Montreal have been touring relentlessly. They've now made their way over to the UK, providing us with a chance to squeeze in a chat with the band’s frontman and founder, Kevin Barnes, on their day off, before a triumphant return to play a show at London’s Koko. Here’s what unfolded... GFP: Hi Kevin, how and where are you today? Kevin : [...]
Of Montreal might have made their trippiest video yet. Kevin Barnes takes on a moving painting feel in the video for "Spiteful Intervention." After you're done watching this one, check out the tour dates below to see if they're coming to you neck of the woods. They'll be hitting up Kentucky on June 19 - [...]

Great new vid from Of Montreal. It was directed by Jesse Ewles and features a load of paint - and the face of Kevin Barnes is in there somewhere too.

Pitchfork just premiered of Montreal's mind-blowing new animated video for "Spiteful Intervention," which brings to life director Jesse Ewles' surrealist, 17th century still-life inspired acrylic paintings as undulating blobs of color that morph frontman Kevin Barnes' face into a series of monstrous singing creatures. Watch it below: At NPR, watch an entire of Montreal concert filmed at Washington DC's 9:30 Club recently to experience their "wildly theatrical" stage setup on tour. of Montreal has also confirmed a string of U.S. ...
"Spiteful Intervention" was my favourite song off of Of Montreals 11th (!) album, Paralytic Stalks . I'm glad they opted to release a video for it, and what a video it is. In it, you see lead singer Kevin Barnes' face being warped in psychedelic colours and shapes. It's definitely one to full-screen and put headphones on for. While still rooted in pop, this track ventures into psychadelic territory as much as any Of Montreal song can. It's an interesting listen, and a great headphones track, with background noises coming and going in the mix. / [...]
Avant de débuter leur tournée Française, la bande de Kevin Barnes nous offre leur nouveau clip réalisé par Jesse Ewles.

‘Spiteful Intervention,’ the latest video from Of Montreal’s February release Paralytic Stalks , features frontman Kevin Barnes melting at the seems into a chasm of ethereal colors and shapes in the Jesse Elwes-directed video. As well, the group is planning plenty of 2012 tour dates leading up until August, which you can check out below after the video. 04/25 – London, UK @ Koko 04/26 – Brighton, UK @ Concorde 2 04/27 – Paris, FR @ Trianon [...]

You want to take trippy visuals to the next level? Then look no further than the new video from Of Montreal for "Spiteful Intervention." This song is off their most recent album Paralytic Stalks and it is directed by Jesse Ewles . Right in the center of the video is this morphing blob of color which animates into random shapes and even a band member. This might be one of the craziest acid trip videos in awhile. Watch below. Fresh? [...]

Of Montreal dropped the music video for "Spiteful Intervention", which makes viewers feel as if they dropped some acid. Here, we see frontman Kevin Barnes, but not before a pulsating blob of autumnal colors sketches his likeness. Toward the end we see what looks like a dragon, sort of with the distorted mouth of Munch's 'The Scream'.
