Thursday, April 29, 2010 Today's Quick Mention: If you don't have any plans tomorrow night then I highly recommend seeing Mono and Balmorhea at Emo's. Both put on great shows (especially if you love instrumental music), and you won't regret being in attendance. Plus, it's Mono's last US appearance in 2010! See them now. Not surprisingly, the net sort of exploded with excitement when a brand new track from Interpol was put up for download yesterday. Actually, no one [...]
Sleighbells sign to Neet . That is all.

The festively named Sleigh Bells deliver anything but beautifully packaged presents. They're sound is a strange mix of crunching guitar riffs, beats and indecipherable lyrics all recorded at the wrong volume so that when you listen to them you tend to think your stereo is busted. If this all sounds terribly 'art project' and not much fun then think again, because the five or six tracks that are floating around the internet are all barnstormingly brilliant (the band are currently unsigned, ergo, the music is free to steal, n'est pas?). [...]

Here's an interesting interview conducted by CTRL (a Top Man yokey) with Diplo where he reveals he is working with Rolo Tomassi, Sleigh Bells and Lil Jon, his love of metal and the artists that are doing it for him right now. CTRL have also given me a t-shirt designed by Diplo to giveaway. There were only 50 of these made. You can see the design of it here . It was no doubt inspired by Diplo's constant hand sign in photos . Drop me a mail on freebies@nialler9.com with [...]

As Matty Perpetua (for P4K ) aptly puts in his the Best New Music track review, Sleigh Bells ' Crown On The Ground is "punishingly loud." There is something immediately repulsive about this track, but more powerfully, it is completely propulsive. There are moments I want to turn the volume knob down a little, but I resist and power through it as it is just so damn catchy and the distorted beat seems to just grab hold of my soul [...]
